Wouldn’t it be really convenient if every phone maker used the same type of phone charger to power our phones? You won’t need to buy a new charger every time your forget yours at home.

The GSM Association has announced that it is working on such a solution together with other 17 partner companies. A common format is scheduled to arrive by 2012. As for a connector, we’re expecting micro-USB to be chosen. Unfortunately not everyone has chosen to sign the agreement yet. Apple for one is missing for example.
