The FCC has approved another Palm phone. And no, its not the Palm Pre, at least not yet. The FCC has approved the CDMA version of the Palm Treo Pro. Sprint will probably get this smartphone too although at this point we won’t be advising you to wait for it. If you want a Palm smartphone then wait for the Pre. The Pre is what’s hot now and it will be hot for quite a while. We will return with the actual arrival dates of the Palm Treo Pro and the price once Sprint decides to officially announce it.

Well isn’t this something? It appears that Palm Treo 800w happy customers will have a new feature available some time soon. Bluetooth voice dialing for Palm 800w will be available in the near future. Here’s what the Palm’s support page states:
Treo 800w Voice Dialing Over Bluetooth will be available soon as a download from this web page. Please return to this page in the coming days for the download and details.
There’s no specific date for the update. It hasn’t been stated either if this upgdate will be RAM or ROM-resistant yet. The Treo was just released from Sprint ad it’s rumored to be arriving at Verizon Wireless in 3 to 6 months.

This Palm Treo 800w from Sprint gives me headaches. Instead of a regular launch with a nice press release and all that we keep hearing rumors about release dates and prices. The Palm Treo 800w was expected to hit the stores on July 13th and therefore it appears to be available online from Sprint now.
We’ve heard about unofficial Treo Sales earlier this week from Sprint. The rumored prices were $350 for a two year contract and $600 without a plan.
Going to Sprint online you will get a Palm Treo 800w listing for $249.99. That’s with a two year agreement and after $100 mail-in rebate. That’s about exactly what we’ve heard before. If you don’t want the iPhone or the Instinct, if you’re done waiting for the HTC Touch Diamond or the new BlackBerries, this Palm Treo is a very good alternative. But otherwise it’s just too expensive compared to its competitors.

With the WWDC coming up in less than 48 hours, people seem to forget there are other upcoming smartphones out there. Such is the case of the Palm Treo 800w which will be fully released on July 13. I think that every handset coming out in the months to follow the iPhone 2 official release will take a hit.
Why choose the Palm Treo 800w? Here are some details that might turn you into a Palm lover:

Details of the new Palm Treo 850 has been released. All this information was leaked from the Vodafone Roadmap for 2008. The anticipated phone has been rumored to feature a Windows Mobile Professional OS and will be running on a 400MHz processor with 100MB of RAM.
Its a quite nice looking device, similar to the Centro but it appears smaller and much more polished. This is just the kind of design refresh a struggling Palm could really use. The phone was shown briefly during Bill Gates keynote. The Treo shown at the presentation isn’t anything of today’s available or known smartphone and it clearly sports Windows Mobile Professional logo and the Start and OK button which is another indication that this must be the Drucker supporting a touchscreen interface.

A new ROM update for the Treo 755p has just been released under the name ROM version 1.07. And guess what — Palm describes it as:
This software update is a tune-up that improves audio, stability, software quality and device usability.
Can’t be any vaguer than that. With the way the description’s written, the update might be mere bug fixes and the like. But hey, then again, a vague update is better than your OS collecting cobwebs, right? It takes around 45 minutes to completely update to Palm Treo 755p ROM version 1.07. Different installation methods for Windows and Mac are available.

Palm really has fallen upon hard times as it announces shutting down seven out of their eight retail stores. Only their Sunnyvale, California branch will remain open. Aside from shutting down their retail stores, Palm also announced shutting down 26 Airport Wireless stores. Palm has taken a beating from competitors as of late. Their lack of OS updates only adds to their predicament. Furthermore, customers who bought the Treo 600 or 650 have eligible for replacements due a class-action suit, still adding to Palm’s current crisis. It’s heartbreaking for old Palm fans to see this unfold. But it’ll equally interesting to see how Palm will take the projected $320 million losses by this quarter.

Palm afficianados (and Vodafone customers) can look forward to the new Palm Treo 500v smartphone unveiled at London today, boasting 3G/UMTS high-speed internet access on the mobile phone. Based on Windows Mobile 6, the Treo 500v features a full-fledged keyboard, support for streaming videos - that’s right, YouTube comes to your Palm now - a large screen and apps for IM. Initially available for Vodafone customers in Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, the UK and South Africa, the Treo 500v is bundled with the usual slew of Microsoft office applications including Outlook. There’s also Windows Live for Windows Mobile.
One of the niceties of the Treo 500v is that it allows your laptop to share data access with the mobile phone, effectively letting you stay online within Vodafon’s coverage area. There’s also Vodafone live!, a portal for news, sports and entertainment. Palm has also thrown in a 2.0 megapixel camera. On board, there’s 150 megs of memory, with support for microSD memory cards. Bluetooth support rounds up the feature list.
Available in two colors: glacier white and charcoal gray.

More images and specs have been leaked of the forthcoming Palm Treo 500v smartphone, which is likely to be unveiled at a London press event tomorrow. The metal-housed Palm Treo 500v will reportedly feature: Windows Mobile 6 Standard Edition, 3G/Wi-Fi connectivity, a full Qwerty keyboard, a 240 x 320 screen, 150MB of built-in memory, a Micro-SD card expansion slot, a 2-megapixel camera and Bluetooth v2.0. It will be available in grey and white.
The two colors are grey/charcoal black and white, but the white one has its keyboard censored out for some reason. These are the best shots we’ve gotten so far, so drink them in, Treo fans.

Palm’s hotly rumored “Gandolf” will be a larger release than expected, a new leak reveals through updated specs. The Windows Mobile phone keeps a similar form factor and same Vodafone branding as before, but now has a darker color scheme and a bigger screen. It is now a metal-accented smartphone and should officially take its place in the Palm lineup as the Treo 500 series and will come in more than just the white, Windows Mobile 6 version shown in the past.
In addition to Windows Mobile, the Treo 500 will lack a touchscreen and feature 3G internet. The budget emphasis also won’t stop the handset from featuring the same 64MB of RAM as the more expensive Treo 700wx or 3G wireless Internet through HSDPA for those on GSM providers.
Also finding its way into the phone would reportedly be a 2-megapixel camera, 256MB of built-in flash for storage, and a Bluetooth transmitter with stereo audio support. Updated release information isn’t included, leaving releases beyond Vodafone a mystery.
