A new Samsung phone, and we had a lot of those lately, is going to Verizon Wireless. The Trance will go on sale tomorrow, April 24 and it will cost just $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a 2-year contract. The Trance is a phone dedicated to music and here’s what you can expect from it:

  • 2.1-inch display with 176 x 220 resolution
  • CDMA 1X 800/1900mHz Digital Only
  • 1.3 megapixel camera
  • 1GB of Internal memory dedicated to Music, up to 16GB microSD expansion
  • 3.5mm headset jack
  • Bluetooth
  • Mobile email, mobile web, VZ Navigator, Chaperone Parent and chat capable
  • V CAST music with Rhapsody support
  • Music Player for MP3, WMA & unprotected AAC & unprotected AAC+ Formats
  • Bang & Olufsen ICEpower external speakers
  • One touch access to music and ability to create & manage playlists and to multitask while listening to music
  • Sync music from PC to phone (over the air music downloads are not supported)
  • Text, Picture, and Voice Messaging with threaded messaging feature
  • Tools: Alarm Clock, World Clock, Calculator with Converter, Stop Watch

A new slider is coming to Verizon. It’s the Samsung Trance U490 and it’s supposed to be available in Verizon stores starting with April 24. The Trance is a mid-level phone centered on music. It will come with Bang & Olufsen ICEpower sound technology and it will include a new sharing feature which will let you share playback on two simultaneous Bluetooth stereo connections. Besides the music capabilities the Trance will bring you the following:

  • 2.1-inch display with 176 x 220 resolution
  • CDMA 1X 800/1900mHz Digital Only
  • 1.3 Megapixel Camera
  • 1GB of Internal Memory Dedicated for Music, up to 16GB MicroSD expansion

The Trance will cost $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a 2-year contract or $119.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate and a 1 year contract or $219.99 without a contract. What will you choose?

Samsung U490 Trance Unveiled


We have one more Samsung handset in the works, the U490 Trance. It’s not a high-end device but rather an entry- to mid-level phone. The phone will arrive from Verizon Wireless and it will probably sport the following features:

  • Slider form factor, hidden touch-sensitive buttons on face
  • 1.3 megapixel camera
  • 1GB internal memory
  • microSDHC support up to 16GB
  • 3.5mm stereo audio jack
  • large speaker on the back
  • Mobile Web 2.0 browser
  • No EV-DO support

The phone will arrive sometime in Q2 but you might see it at the CTIA if you’re going to attend it.
