How many times did you want to listen to music from your iPod nano or touch without actually having to use your headphones? That’s possible if you have a dock close by but what about when you’re on the go? A nice pair of ultraportable speakers would definitely come in handy. Luckily for us there’s a Korean company out that came up with a solution for this problem.
Green Power has launched two different sliding speaker models for both the iPod nano and the iPod touch. The 1.5W twin speakers offer stereo sound which is quite a nice alternative to headphones. The sliding speaker acts like a dock and it comes with an mini USB port which can be using for both charging and uploading new content your iPod. We have no details about pricing and arrival dates at this point so you’ll be left listening to music with your regular headphones while fantasizing about the dock.

I guess it’s hard to believe Steve Jobs when he’s saying that the reason for the iPod touch 3G not to have a camera is that the device is a gaming console. That’s why some people went ahead and dismantled an iPod touch and what do you think they found? A 6 x 6 x 3 millimeter space between a Broadcom chip and the wireless antenna where a camera similar to the one found in the iPod nano 5G would definitely fit. And in case you’re wondering, the new iPod touch 3G could, at least in theory support WiFi 802.11n connectivity and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR which could be some of the features we’ll find in the next-gen iPod touch

Don’t think we missed the fact that the new iPod touch 3G doesn’t have a camera! We were shocked to see that Apple postponed adding a camera to the iPod touch 3G. Probably that’s what we’re going to see next year in the fourth-generation. What happened you ask? It’s all so confusing but Steve Jobs claims that the touch doesn’t have a camera since it’s a gaming device. It’s probably a lot harder to play all those cool games on a device that comes with a camera on board. That’s probably why the nano doesn’t have support for any games.
So here’s what Steve Jobs did say, word for word:
Q. You put a camcorder on the iPod Nano. Why not on the iPod Touch?
A. Originally, we weren’t exactly sure how to market the Touch. Was it an iPhone without the phone? Was it a pocket computer? What happened was, what customers told us was, they started to see it as a game machine. Because a lot of the games were free on the store. Customers started to tell us, “You don’t know what you’ve got here - it’s a great game machine, with the multitouch screen, the accelerometer, and so on.”
We started to market it that way, and it just took off. And now what we really see is it’s the lowest-cost way to the App Store, and that’s the big draw. So what we were focused on is just reducing the price to $199. We don’t need to add new stuff - we need to get the price down where everyone can afford it.
I bet my horse that next year the iPod touch 4G will have a camera. What do you think?

If Apple resellers are to be believed, the current generation of iPods are being discounted and retailers are being urged to deplete their stock to make way for new models. While this hasn’t been officially confirmed, we’ve had tons of evidence to support the fact that Apple is gearing up to launch a line of iPod nanos and touches that feature a digital camera.
Those looking to purchase a new iPod may want to hold off until September 8th when Apple is expected to make an announcement.

Samsung is working on a new portable media player which seems destined to compete against the iPod touch and most importantly against Microsoft’s Zune HD. The Samsung M1 is the gadget in question and it will come with a 3.3-inch OLED touchscreen and an Nvidia Tegra chipset. Other features will include Bluetooth audio support, DivX video playback, FM radio, photo viewer, text reader, voice recorder and microSD support. Before I even start this one out I have to tell you folks that the video above was created for a product management class. Unfortunately this is not the MacBook Touch just yet but it might very well be in a little time. It’s a remarkable concept which people would probably love having around. We have just heard today a rumor saying that Apple and Verizon will launch the first MacBook tablet so this video fits perfectly with it. It’s what some customers want and we’re probably going to see Apple deliver.
What do you want out of a MacBook Touch (or whatever name it will be given)?

Sprint is not thinking only Pre thoughts, is it? The carrier is said to launch the HTC Touch Pro2 or the Rhodium sometime in June. According to leaked information the Touch Pro2 will be available in mid-June so Windows Mobile lovers will be able to finally get a phone capable of running version 6.5 of Microsoft’s Mobile OS. Should we also assume that Microsoft will have the Marketplace ready by that time too?
And since we’re talking HTC, the Snap will be available in July. Now you can really make up your mind. What would you choose between the Pre or the Touch Pro2?

The HTC Touch Pro2 isn’t commercially available anywhere yet. The world is waiting for master Microsoft to finish up that new Windows Mobile 6.5 OS. According to some rumors 6.5 is already finished and it looks and feels good. Unfortunately that’s not nearly enough for us.
But what if carriers started to display the Touch Pro2? Should we assume that the handset will be available soon? Should we assume that Microsoft has indeed finished Windows Mobile 6.5?
Vodafone UK is currently displaying the Touch Pro2 as the Touch Pro 2 under the business section of the website. There’s no price for the Pro 2 and no arrival date. The handset is coming soon, but we already knew that. Anyone particularly interested in buying a Windows Mobile 6.5 phone considering that the new iPhone or the Pre are coming soon too?

Audioengine has developed a tiny gadget called the W2 which will bring your iPod wireless connectivity. And I am not talking about the iPod touch which already has WiFi support. The wireless adapter will give you a different kind of WiFi connectivity. It will connect to your iPod and you will be able to use it to connect your iPod to your computers or to your stereo system. That means you could stream music from your iPod to your sound system without using any cables.
The W2 has two components. The receiver connects with the sound system while the sending unit will be connected to your dock connector. The whole ensemble work over 2.4GHz in a 30 foot radius. The W2 will connect with the iPod classic, nano 2G or later and with the touch. The W2 costs $170 and for that price you will get both the sender and receiver, the USB power adapter, the 3.5mm TRS to RCA adapter and an audio cable. Santa is on his way as we speak. It might be too late for asking him for the W2.

We’re just getting used to touchscreen phones and computers and Nokia goes one step further. It sees that Nokia handsets could be controlled by simple gestures in the future. Ultra-sound sensors would pick your movements up and then transform them into various handset actions. Alastair Curtis, Nokia’s chief designer was asked why the N-series haven’t received a multi-touch interface yet. Here’s what he had to say:
We’ve not launched what we think is right for N-series in a touch product. You’ll see in the coming months, years… what we feel is right. Much as I’m talking to you now with gestures.
Well then when is the new Nokia touch-less device going to hit?
