Just earlier today we’ve seen Google announcing that it’s going to offer free WiFi in 47 airports for the holidays but Yahoo is also ready to offer some free WiFi. The company announced that free WiFi is coming to Times Square in 2010. New Yorkers will be able to browse the web from both their mobile phones and laptops while in the Times Square. Here’s what the company said about this initiative:
While Yahoo! is the place where your world meets the world online, over 500,000 of you take in Times Square each day and it’s become a central spot for New Yorkers and people around the world. We and our partners at the Times Square Alliance think it’s the perfect place to bring you free WiFi service.
So what do you say New Yorkers? Are you going to make Times Square a daily stop on your busy itinerary next year?

It is a game for the people who love puzzles and word games. Jumbli, a familiar word game that is present in mobile phones and at social community networks such as Facebook is now downloadable for free.
But if you think that is all you can do, the app also interact with one of New York’s Jumbotron. The game is displayed several times per hour on Clear Channel’s Spectacolor screen in New York’s Times Square, located at 48th Street and Broadway.
When Jumbli is live in Times Square, all other connected screens indicate that the game is live and all plays made during that period are displayed in real-time on the Spectacolor Jumbotron, giving players one of the world’s most prominent screens for their plays.
Jumbli was one of the first Verified Facebook Applications, a screening program that highlights applications that prove their “commitment to providing a trustworthy user experience that is secure, respectful and transparent.”

They’ve finally done it. And it was about time, if you ask me. The High Definition LED screen is the first true 720p high definition display in Times Square and it’s composed of 1,266,400 LEDs.
Karl Bearnarth, senior vice president, marketing, JVC Company of America says:
Times Square might have changed a bit in the 30 years that JVC has had a presence there, but it continues to live up to its nickname as the ‘crossroads of the world’. For many of the millions of visitors that pass through the area every year, the bright lights and billboards are a main attraction. We think our new high definition billboard will create plenty of excitement thanks to its stunning resolution and our creative use of all three LED display areas.
The giant screen measures 19 x 34 feet and features a 16:9 wide screen aspect ratio and a 1280 x 720 resolution. Another 71-foot LED ticker is running beneath it and curves below the base of the JVC globe. Did I forget to mention the globe, well yeah, there also is the Globe. The Globe that has been marking the northeast Broadway corner with 43rd Street. But it has been refurbished using a high density fluorescent paint, so it’ definitely a must see! Actually I don’t think you can miss it while wandering around Times Square! So be sure to take a look!
