Audio quality for some iPhone and iPod Touch users may be something that needs addressing but you can now look forward to better audio quality thanks to the launch of a new set of audio enhancement tools released by Izotope Inc. Aimed at providing third party software applications, people can now experience improved sound for their handheld devices through extensive licenses made available by Izotope.
“We already rely on iZotope’s expertise and audio DSP for our Mac OS X line of products, so it was natural for us to work with iZotope to bring high quality audio processing to the iPhone,” explains Matthew Foust, Co-founder of Audiofile Engineering. Audiofile Engineering is actively developing new iPhone applications as well as providing development services to produce third party iPhone applications.
Hence, expect an improved and better audio quality feedback from apps coming out in the market today thanks to these new solutions from Izotope Inc. The new iZotope Mobile Audio software development library is based on award-winning and innovative audio DSP code base derived from iZotope’s best in class professional and consumer product lines.

iPhone owners get a new app to check out at the Apple app store with the launch of the Crestron Mobile for the iPhone. An intuitive graphical interface enables seamless control and management of climate, lighting, shades and security systems. View room and device status and adjust control features remotely from any location via the 3G or Edge cellular network (or Wi-Fi, where available).
Crestron Mobile on the iPhone talks directly to the lighting control system without any third-party software or external servers from anywhere in the world in real-time. (A control module is required for communication, and must be uploaded to the Crestron control system the by an authorized dealer.) Any updates or changes to the control program are automatically sent to the iPhone when the app is launched, and new locations are easily added by opening the “Connections” page on the iPhone. Crestron Mobile is compatible with the original iPhone, iPhone 3G and the iPod touch.
For the installer, Crestron Mobile for iPhone is fully integrated with Crestron programming software including SystemBuilder, VT Pro-e and SIMPL. The app appears as a symbol in the Crestron data library, which can be dragged and dropped into the control program and uploaded to a Crestron 2-Series control system. Custom GUI designs and program settings are implemented exactly the same as any other control module at no cost.

Restrictions of the iPhone have become an opportunity for competitors to bank on as the Palm Pre has announced that they will highlight such restrictions and perhaps shift the user preference in their favor with the shortcomings of the Apple iPhone.
At Sprint’s press lounge during the CTIA Wireless Association’s annual event, Palm stressed the advantages of the new webOS platform at the heart of the Pre by running presentations of carefully selected third-party software live on sample phones.
The most advanced was Pandora’s Internet radio app. On an iPhone OS device, the music service is partly neutered by Apple’s refusal to allow true background tasks, preventing users from listening to streams while they run other chores; on the Palm Pre, Pandora not only runs in the background but hooks into the always-on notification bar to let listeners approve or dismiss songs without having to even switch active tasks.
Regardless of what the Pre and webOS may do correctly for app developers, however, timing may potentially sink Palm’s success in attracting developers as wells as Palm owners. Palm and Sprint continue to cling to a “first half of 2009″ release date in spite of more than half of that time already having disappeared. With a late spring launch now the most likely, Palm may have to contend directly with Apple’s third-generation iPhone launch expected at or around WWDC in June.
