Lenovo is the new company in the block betting on the multi-touch technology: meaning that it can recognize 2 fingers on the touchscreen. This feature has been added to 2 models: ThinkPad T400s and X200 Tablet.
To make usability better and easier, the laptops come with special software named SimpleTap so you can easily access the most common functions: volume, turn on/off, etc. Technically speaking the T400s boasts a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo processor + 120GB on the hard-drive + 2GB of memory RAM, and a DVD burner which makes the price tag close to $2.000. As for the X200 Tablet, it is a bit cheaper and not so powerful, for $1,650 you get a 12–inch touchscreen, a 1.4GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB of RAM and 160GB of storage capacity.

If you’re getting ready to go back to school to the Northern Michigan University then you’re in for a pleasant surprise. NMU has decided to partner up with Motorola in order to offer campus-wide WiMAX connectivity. Like that’s not enough for a nice gesture, the university will also offer 3,000 ThinkPads which are, of course, WiMAX ready. That means 1 in 3 students will get a brand new laptop from the university capable of high speed connectivity while in campus. If you won’t be getting one of those ThinkPads then don’t be sad! Laptop and desktop WiMAX adapters will be available to anyone else. The network will have a radius of some 30 miles so you’ll have plenty of WiMAX coverage. And so will other local schools and municipal offices.

Lenovo and RIM’s Constant Connect is now finally available. What will Constant Connect do for you? It will let your ThinkPad get your BlackBerry emails whenever the two devices are within a certain range of each other. What’s even more interesting is that the technology behind this product will let your laptop get those emails even when the laptop is turned off. Unfortunately this product will only appeal to those customers that own both a RIM BlackBerry and a ThinkPad laptop but the whole concept is pretty darn interesting. Constant Connect will be available for $149 so go ahead and grab it if it looks interesting to you.

There’s no official news on the matter but it looks like Lenovo is getting ready to launch a ThinkPad keyboard. The picture here has appeared on Lenovo’s Flickr stream out of nowhere.
It’s very thin and very wireless. It has a built-in trackpad that seems to have been taken right out of a laptop and of course the numpad is also there. Could we only ask for it to be backlit as well? What about pricing and a release date Lenovo? Pretty please?

Future Lenovo ThinkPad laptops will include a nice feature in the future. A feature which will prevent unwanted people to use your laptop after stealing it. With the SMS disable option you will be able to send a tiny SMS message which will disable your laptop. In order to set it up you need to also get a data plan and get a WAN card but it should be all worth it. The process is reversible in case you misplace your laptop but think it was stolen.
There’s a minor major flaw with the whole concept. In case the thief removes the SIM card from the laptop your hole SMS disable plan won’t work at all.

Don’t worry if you feel like deja-vu all over again. It’s a laptop day today as I said before. We’ve seen four new Vaios from Sony so I guess it’s only proper to look at four new Thinkpads launched by Lenovo. We have the new SL, R, T and W lines to look at. They will all pack Centrino 2 processors and widescreen LCDs.
The SL series, will have the SL300, SL400 and SL500. If you didn’t guess it by know they are 13, 14 and 15 inch versions. Priced from $699 to $1,199 they are offering an HDMI and Blu-ray option, There’s talks about very cheap 3G add-on from AT&T and Ericsson. WiMax is rumored to for this small business oriented line.
The W series differs from the T series. The W laptops will have ATI Mobility Fire GL graphics card and Display Port while the T series will have switchable graphics which will let you chose between discreet or integrated graphics without rebooting. The R series appears to be the cheaper line of them all. Pricing will range from $899 to $1,999 depending on model and chosen features.

The X200 from Lenovo is an ultra thin laptop. You might remember his bigger brother, the Lenovo X300. These pictures have (finally) been leaked away. You can at least feast your eyes for now on them. While waiting for more news about Lenovo’s new ThinkPad line (the 12 inch X200, the 14.1 inch X400 and the 15.4 inch X500), lets take a look at the specs rumored this line will have.

Lenovo has finally released the ThinkPad X300; the notebook PC to put MacBook Air to shame. Sure, at 0.73-inch at its thinnest point, the Air is still thinner. But I’d surmise that features and functionalities are valued more than the thinness of a notebook. Weighing in at only 2.93 pounds, Lenovo ThinkPad X300 runs on Intel Centrino with vPro technology, and features 13.3-inch LED backlight WXGA+ LCD display, 1.8-inch 64 GB SSD, up to 4 GB memory, integrated fingerprint reader, and a built-in 7-millimeter slim DVD burner which takes the cake. Aside from said features, the Lenovo ThinkPad X300 also sports USB, WWAN, WLAN, and GB Ethernet ports as well as a built-in GPS functionality. The notebook is made of advanced glass and carbon fiber with a Next Generation ThinkPad Roll Cage for added protection. And, just like the Air, the ThinkPad X300 is also a “green” device. It’s rated gold by EPEAT, and is recognized as “one of the most environmentally-responsible PCs in the industry.” That’s because the model uses mercury-free LCD glass, energy-efficient SSD, and energy-efficient arsenic-free LED display which helps achieve 35% less power consumption as compared to older models. The Lenovo ThinkPad X300 Notebook PC is now available for approximately US$2,799 through Lenovo’s business partners and the Lenovo web site.
