Here is an app from Motolingo that should come in handy for business executives and companies that issue mobile phones for use by their employees. The new software is the Mobile Pro app, an app that runs in the background of your phone and keeps track of your phone usage. The usage tracking includes calls, emails and text messages all coming from the said phone.

Now why is this a great app for businesses? For one we all know that most companies are trying to tighten their belts and one of the main privileges that is often used by employees are company issued mobile phones. Supposedly these are for official use only but some of them get in some personal calls.

With the reports that this app can provide, businesses can easily audit, question and track which are really used in relation to their job. It is not an employee with a company-issued phone would love but during these times, professionalism just needs to be emphasized.

Text messaging has come a long way from just sending a simple text message to one or group of friends today. It has evolved into a powerful from of mass media where the billions of text messages being sent around the world has caught everyone in a maze of private and commercial messaging frenzy. More so, it is apparent that mobile phone subscribers are clamoring for better cell phone plans, ranging from unlimited texting to cost-efficient plans. And a lot of local service providers have done so but the public is still asking for more.

According to statistics compiled by the Messaging and Mobile Media Division of VeriSign, Inc., mobile messaging continues to shatter records with nearly 84 billion messages were delivered throughout the first quarter of 2009.

These records can be considered modest. For one, they only cover a certain area of concern. But if you put the whole world together, you may see tons of people wanting better mobile phone plans either for personal use or business-related intent. And for mobile providers, they only intend to provide more as they conceptualize client-enticing mobile plans that will certainly be awaited by consumers in the market today.

Hot iPhone apps are easy to spot. They are normally the ones which are downloaded by most people once they get to the Apple App Store. But if you talk about seeing 500,000 downloads in just 40 days, you have to agree that there is something about the app that makes it hot!

Rock Your Phone announced today users of its service downloaded over 500,000 applications in the first 40 days of operations. The new service allows customers to trial and purchase applications that extend and enhance the current iPhone capabilities beyond what is available via the Apple iPhone App Store.

Rock Your Phone created the first full-service alternative iPhone App Store to distribute pioneering applications. “We allow developers to use their full creativity to develop applications, rather then tip-toe through a restrictive and vague approval process. IntelliScreen, which is not allowed in the Apple App Store, enables users to glance at their iPhone and view a summary of current emails, text messages, calendar, news, sports, and weather on the lock screen. While the iPhone is a great entertainment device, when it’s time for business, users prefer the productivity and efficiency that IntelliScreen provides.” said Mario Ciabarra, Chief Technology Officer and company founder.

With free 10-day trials on every application, Rock Your Phone stands behind its service with a love-it or leave-it attitude. Rock Your Phone’s current catalog of only 9 applications has pursued quality applications, rather then quantity. Ciabarra said, “We’re focused on delivering innovative applications that solve business problems. With a ‘try before you buy’ policy, applications that don’t deliver simply don’t make sense for our platform.”

The Rock Your Phone catalog already contains features that Apple intends to provide in the next major release of the iPhone, including cut and paste and landscape text messaging.

LG Neon TE365F QWERTY Phone

LG Electronics offers a low cost phone that possesses the high quality features like QWERTY and touch screen features, then the LG Neon may be worth checking out. Also available through Rogers Wireless, the LG Neon is not supposed to compete against a BlackBerry or an iPhone. Instead, it’s a slightly beefier multimedia phone that happens to rock a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Texters will find that quite useful.

The most notable feature on the LG Neon TE365F is its slide-out QWERTY keyboard. This three-row keyboard will certainly come in handy for pumping out those text messages, instant messages, and emails. When you slide out the keyboard, the display automatically orients to landscape mode as well. The display also happens to be a touchscreen, but it comes with a few limitations that I’ll describe a little later in this review.

Other notable features on this multimedia and messaging-minded handset include tri-band (850/1800/1900) GSM/EDGE connectivity, Bluetooth, integrated MP3 player, FM radio, 2 megapixel camera (no flash), picture and video messaging, and an SMS conversation box. It’s nice to see a couple of notable basics like the MP3 player and digital camera, but there isn’t much here that’s going to floor you. At the same time, you have to realize that this phone only costs fifty bucks with contract. That’s pretty cheap.

Inside the box are the phone itself, a SIM card, charger, and supporting documentation. Even though there’s an MP3 player inside and the phone uses a proprietary connection, there is no provided headset.

The LG Neon TE365F QWERTY messaging phone is available through Fido for $50 with a qualifying two-year service agreement or for $175 outright.

  • By now we have all heard of Virgin Mobile’s $49.99/month voice only plan but apparently Boost Mobile’s flat rate plan of $50.00 seems better. Of course this would depend on which you spend a lot on, voice calls or texting.

Apparently, while the Virgin Mobile plan covers calls, it does not include text messaging which if totaled could become more expensive once you monthly bill comes along.

Compared to Boost Mobile’s plan, they offer unlimited nationwide talk, text and multimedia messaging, wireless Web access and nationwide Walkie-Talkie that reaches more than 274 million people in more than 15,800 cities across the U.S. for an all-inclusive price of $50/month.

While the Virgin Mobile plan includes unlimited talk, those looking to send text messages will need to pay an additional $10 per month. Research shows that text messaging is on the rise, closing in on mobile phone calls as consumers’ communication of choice.

According to CTIA (Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association), text messaging traffic grew to more than 75 billion messages per month in the United States in 2008, up from 7.2 billion per month in 2005.

In addition to saving consumers more than $200 per year, Boost Mobile’s plan, unlike Virgin Mobile’s plan, offers consumers picture messaging, text messaging, Web access and the popular Walkie-Talkie feature. Boost Mobile offers the fastest national “push-to-talk” network available in the prepaid industry. More than 90 percent of Boost iDEN customers surveyed say they use nationwide Boost Walkie-Talkie, and 70 percent of those customers use the service daily.

Some phones don’t provide us the luxury of magnification or bigger LCD screens to aid in composing text messages or even finding out who is calling. With this new digital stereoscope attachment however all visualization worries are answered.

Neochroma, a German company, is marketing a digital stereoscope attachment for mobile phones which promises to put a big screen into the palm of your hand’.

A mobile phone is attached to the device and the user then views the screen through the stereoscope, which give the effect of looking at a 19 inch computer monitor. The device shows life-like 3D images instantly.

One thing that any mobile phone owner would hate is missing a text message. The application presents a simple, seamless solution that converts between text messages and e-mail so that BlackBerry smartphone users can read and reply to text messages as e-mails, both on their smartphone and when accessing their e-mail on a computer. The convenience of converting e-mail and text message communication allows users to work more efficiently and with greater ease.

A Network Extender has been released by Verizon Wireless in an effort to boost cell phone reception. Apparently, many consumers are having some issues as far as cell phone reception is concerned and with this piece of hardware, they can expect better coverage and signals. The best part of it is that Verizon will not charge additional for it.

The Verizon Network Extender is essentially a mini-cell tower that works by using a customer’s existing broadband Internet connection to provide coverage in an area up to 5,000 square feet. The femtocell, which is made by Samsung, can also enhance the ability to send text messages, surf the mobile Web, and download e-mail, but it doesn’t support 3G speeds on Verizon’s 3G network.

It looks like the law banning the use of mobile phones while in the air is a thing of the past.

It was actually Emirates who first allowed the use receiving and sending text message while in the air. Now, British Airways is set to allow people to do the same. At least as far as business class travelers are concerned.

Passengers travelling on the twice-daily route, set to launch in the autumn, will be able to send and receive text messages and emails during the flight, and access the internet.

“The service is aimed at people in the Square Mile,” said a spokesman for BA. “We believe the route and the new technology will offer an appealing package to business travellers.”

Last year, a Telegraph Travel petition to keep the skies mobile-free attracted around 7,000 signatures, with readers expressing safety concerns and unease at the prospect of listening to other passengers’ conversations at 30,000 feet.

TomTom LINK 300 for TomTom GPS Device

    TomTom

Stuff like the ability to select and read orders, exchange text messages with the head office, register working time/breaks are now a piece of cake. When your navigation device and the TomTom LINK 300 have been connected, you get a quick-access menu of buttons Active Order and Change logbook/Report work time.
