Despite originally being thought to be hitting Rogers on October 26th, the carrier has just come around now to offer the BlackBerry Bold 9700 for $299.99 with a 3-year contract. Of course, if you want to pick it up with no plan you have the option to shell out $599.99.

Now we just have to wait until TELUS and Bell put the device up for sale and we’ll be good.

GSM HTC Hero coming to Telus

There has been some buzz surrounding the HTC Hero recently namely because HTC has announced that it will be getting an Android 2.0 update at some point in the near future. Now, the device has again hit the press but this time because a GSM/HSDPA version of it will be coming to Telus.

The device features the same exact specs as the HTC Hero we’ve all come to know and love but there has been no announcements regarding a release date or price.

Rumors have been circulating of Telus picking up the iPhone for some time now but we haven’t had official confirmation from the carrier as to when we will see the device. Luckily, they have announced that they will be offering the iPhone on November 5th of this year.

You’ll be able to pick the iPhone 3G for $99.99, the 16GB 3GS for $199.99 and the 32GB 3GS for $299.99 on 3-year contracts.

Motorola Droid Shows GSM Features

The Droid might be a Verizon Wireless exclusive phone in the USA but that doesn’t mean that Motorola shouldn’t sell in other markets too. After all the Droid is probably going to be one of the best Android phones around and I’m pretty sure that Motorola will want to cash in on all that hotness.

The FCC has revealed exactly such a version of the Droid that could be used all around the GSM world. What’s more interesting is that the GSM Droid has support for AT&T’s WCDMA 850 and 1900MHz bands which also happen to be used by carriers in Canada. Not that Verizon will share the Droid with AT&T any time soon! But Rogers, Bell and Telus will probably want to launch the phone in the following months or, dare we say, in the following weeks?

Will you buy the Droid next week from Verizon or are you waiting for a GSM version of it?

That’s right folks, what you’re currently reading is not a mistake of some sort. Bell and Telus will get the iPhone this November since the official Apple partner in Canada will lose its iPhone exclusivity deal next month.

Bell certainly has even more reasons to celebrate as the carrier has deployed its new HSPA network in time for the 2010 Winter Olympics. The iPhone deal comes just in the nick of time although none of the parties involved will admit everything so far. We have no pricing details so far but I bet both Bell and Telus are really eager to announce their subscribers that the iPhone will be available in their stores soon. What about your Rogers? Don’t you have any denial to do regarding the loss of iPhone exclusivity?

Don’t look so surprised by that number! Windows Mobile 6.5 is coming and it looks like there are quite a few phone makers ready to roll phone capable or running Microsoft’s newest OS. And while we’re definitely thrilled to see that concept tablet, the Courier already, we can’t say we’re similarly interested in Windows Mobile 6.5. The OS is clearly a transition platform from the old Windows Mobile 6 to the future Windows Mobile 7.

Nonetheless manufacturers out there are ready to launch Windows Mobile 6.5 phones! Those 30 new handsets capable of running Microsoft latest OS will be made by HTC, Samsung, LG, Sony Ericsson, Acer, Toshiba and HP. The phones will be released by the end of the year and we know a few carriers are definitely interested: AT&T, Sprint, Verizon Wireless, Orange, T-Mobile, Vodafone, NTT DoCoMo, Softbank Mobile, SKT, Telestra and Telus.

White BlackBerry Bold Anyone?

At this point in the mobile world, RIM’s BlackBerry Bold is so last year. The phone was launched in 2008 but since then RIM has announced lots of new Berries to play with. If you must insist with the Bold then take a second to consider a white version of it. Sure it’s the same phone under a differently colored hood, but it looks totally original. The Bold in the picture here was apparently sent by RIM to the York University in Canada where Telus and Wind happen to do some testing from time to time. We have no idea if and when a white BlackBerry Bold will be launched but we’re totally going to keep you updated.

It seems that Canadian consumers 2 more handset options to choose from as it was recently announced that HTC’s Touch Pro2 and Snap have hit TELUS.

The HTC Touch Pro2 is crurrently priced at $249.99 on a 3-year contract while the HTC Snap is free on the same contract. In terms of specs, both of these are Windows Mobile smart phones and feature things such as WiFI, GPS, Bluetooth and visual voicemail.

  • Those of you interested in an HTC Touch Pro2 smartphone from Telus, should check Best Buy instead. Best Buy Canada has the handset for sale and you can get the Touch Pro2 for just $249.99 CAD with a 3-year contract. The best part of the deal here is that Telus hasn’t even officially announced the new phone. Best Buy isn’t apparently aware of this or the company is listing the HTC phone in advanced intentionally. Is this a human error? It very well might be considering the image Best Buy displayed instead of the actual Touch Pro2 picture. Let us know if you were able to order your Touch Pro2 already. In the mean time we’ll be waiting for Telus to launch the handset too.

We told you this was happening a while ago and it seems HTC has already been manufacturing handsets featuring a 3.5mm headphone jack. In fact, one of the first phones ready packing the new audio jack will be the HTC Touch Pro2 and it looks like both Telus and Verizon will get this Touch Pro2 version. The phone will be available soon from both carriers but we have no exact arrival dates yet.

Telus has three hot phones coming in this July. Two are coming from HTC and you’re probably expecting them: the HTC Snap and the HTC Touch Pro2. The other one is RIM’s latest Berry, the BlackBerry Tour.

It would be interesting to see what Telus’ customers will choose between a new BlackBerry and a new HTC that looks like a BlackBerry. The Tour and the Snap will be launched on the same day, July 15 while the Touch Pro2 is coming only on July 21. The Tour will be available for $249.99 and the Snap for $29.99. The Touch Pro2 will cost $249.99 and these prices will only be available with new 3-year contracts. So what do you say folks? Which phone is it going to be your favorite?

You can imagine that any decent carrier out there wants to get its hands on the iPhone 3GS and make the most of it. Such a carrier might be Telus and despite being a CDMA-based carrier it would definitely go for the iPhone 3GS. There’s nothing official just yet but it looks like Telus is going to sell the iPhone 3GS in October as soon as its brand new HSPA network will be properly launched. What will Rogers and Fido have to say about it? We’ll just have to wait and see how this one plays out folks.

The Tour is quite a hot BlackBerry right now. Besides the iPhone 3G S or the Pre, the Tour managed to grab quite some attention lately. Verzion and Sprint have almost launched it yesterday by making available to the public web pages dedicated to the Tour and now it’s time for Telus to make a move.

It’s not official yet but it looks like Telus is going to launch the Tour on July 15. The phone is rumored to sell for $249.99 with a 3-year contract. A 1GB microSD card will be included in the offer too. Will Telus sell the Tour before or after Verizon and Sprint start selling it?

A certain Canadian carrier, which we will conveniently name Telus in what follows, will be launching its HSDPA network in quite a few Canadian markets. To be more precise Telus will soft-launch the new network starting with September 2 and it will focus initially on the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. Telus will therefore be able to test everything before the nationwide release. And everything should be thoroughly tested and set in place by February 12th, 2010 when the 2010 Winter Olympics will start in Vancouver and Whistler. Anyone anxious about all of this in Canada? Drop us a line and tell us how Telus works.

That’s right you lucky Canadians, you heard me right, Telus is indeed going to launch to hot HTC phones soon. The HTC Snap and the Touch Pro2 received the World Edition moniker which must mean that both phones will be able to offer you EV-DO Rev. A and dual-band GSM capabilities. There’s nothing official about the two new HTC phones yet but the word on the street is that both handsets are present in Telus’ inventory. Which one would you choose? The BlackBerry-like HTC Snap or the Windows Mobile 6.5 ready HTC Touch Pro2?

    Motorola V750 at Telus

Telus seems to be on a roll lately, and on top of the recently launched Blackberry Storm, they’ve added a Motorola handset entitled V750 to their growing catalog. One of the positive points of this Motorola phone is meeting the US Military specifications for special conditions, which means it can resist to sand, dust, humidity, rain, and more.

In terms of features, the Motorola V750 will come with a 2-megapixel camera, slot for memory cards that can hold 8GB of audio, a 2.5mm earphone jack to listen to all the music, and a display screen that provides a resolution of 240×320 pixels. As for the price, $200 with 3-year contract, $300 for 2-year contract, $350 with a 1-year contract, and finally the non-contract version costs $400.
