After rumors flew about the Android-based Pulse last month, T-Mobile UK finally made it official. Starting October the first pay-as-you-go Android 1.5 smartphone will be exclusively available at T-Mobile courtesy of Huawei. The Pulse comes with features that include a 3.5” HVGA touch screen display, a 3.2 megapixel camera and a TeleNAV powered GPS.

The phone runs on a Qualcomm’s MSM7200A chipset and weighs 130g. It features a trackball and a 3.5″ HVGA touchscreen display with auto-rotation. The Pulse Android phone will retail for £180.

  • TeleNav used to be in the software market of GPS navigation systems, but it seems they want something more and decided to go for the hardware market.

With that being said, Telenav Shotgun is their first navigation device. Like the majority of other GPS systems, it has a 4.3-inch touchscreen (480 x 272 pixels of resolution), and an onscreen QWERTY keyboard to make it easy to type a location or street address. Built-in speakers so you can listen to instructions, and a 3.5mm headphone jack are also included.

The battery life seems a bit poor, only 2 hours and a half when using it normally, while on the suspended mode makes the battery last 5 days. Other features on the TeleNav Shotgun include real-time traffic information, internet search on a database with 11 million entries, and updates to maps and business listings every 3 months.

    AT&T
and TeleNav, the first company to offer GPS service for mobile phones in the US, join hands to make New York City a cleaner place. With the help of the two companies, the government of the Big Apple has launched the Street Conditions Observation Unit or SCOUT program. Member of the SCOUT program ride through the streets once a month to observe the conditions. Members report the conditions using the TeleNav Track solution installed on their BlackBerry 8800 handsets with enabled GPS on AT&T network. Using TeleNav’s Track technology, the SCOUT members can know where their field agent had been and can pinpoint where the exact location of the offense is. Hopefully, the same program would launch in various other places in the future.
