All The Latest Cell Phone, Gadget and Tech News

People in the UK may be getting their hands on it first, but at least the FCC approval denotes that the Tattoo is one step further on in getting to the good ol’ USA.  You know what it’s made of already but in brief, the Tattoo will be the fourth device from HTC to jive with Android and comes with quadband GSM/EDGE/HSDPA900/1700/2100 network support, a 3.2 megapixel camera, GPS, microSD support and a touchscreen display that is too small to be capacitive.  Won’t be long before we hear the trumpets blowing for this little fella in the US.

  • The HTC Tattoo is no Hero, but it still has the Android factor, which in itself is a selling point right now.  Vodafone has announced that its UK customers will have the first go at this 2.8-inch touchscreen device and according to the press release, it will be packing a few treats when it is released.  Riding alongside its 3.2 megapixel camera, 3.5mm headset jack, GPS, and microSD support will be an FM radio and Android 1.6 operating system.  That enough for you to buy this device? If you said yes, go ahead and reserve yours now!

Earlier today we let you know that HTC has officially announced the Tattoo; a small, Android powered touchscreen device. What we didn’t tell you, however, is that it features a resistive touchscreen as opposed to a capacitive as found in devices such as the iPhone and HTC Hero. But why would HTC choose a touchscreen that is much less favored than the other? Apparantly, because the screen is too small.

That’s right, according to HTC’s official twitter “capacitive screens at small sizes are hard to be accurate with. Resistive ends up registering fewer miss-clicks”. And with the HTC Tattoo’s screen measuring just 2.8-inches they may have a point.

Now, there isn’t much information to go along with these trademark filings but at least we have a hint at one or more future devices HTC plans to release.

The trademarks recently discovered include Dawn, Vigor, Interlude, Tattoo and Vigor. As mentioned above, there is no info on these but perhaps we can make an educated guess as to what they will be. Chances are, some of them (if not all) will be running Android. Furthermore, the device entitled Tattoo will most likely feature some kind of (customizable?) print on all or part of the phone. And perhaps the Imagio will feature a high resolution camera and on-board editing software. As for the rest? Well, your guess is as good as mine.

We can guess all day but in the end we’re probably going to be wrong. We’ll keep you posted as HTC releases further word on these handsets.
