Look what the cat dragged in! A survey is apparently showing how Palm Pre users are frustrated about the fact that their favorite phone is not able to produce an on-screen keyboard. That sounds somewhat familiar. In the past we’ve heard how iPhone users were unhappy about not having an actual keyboard to attach to the handset. And if you remember, it took a while until the first Android phone from HTC, the G1, got its on-screen keyboard only later. G1 users were also unhappy with the lack of a virtual keyboard.
The problem with the Pre is that users don’t want to slide that actual keyboard out whenever they need to type something. So what do you say Palm? Are you ready to add a virtual keyboard to that marvelous webOS?

Verizon seems really concerned with how many of its otherwise loyal customers have switched to AT&T because of that nasty Apple iPhone. A logical conclusion would be that Verizon Wireless has lost quite a number of subscribers despite purchasing Alltel last year.
Check out the screenshot above and you’ll understand what we mean. Another logical conclusion would be that Verizon will get the iPhone soon to please its customers. What does AT&T have to say about all this? Has AT&T lost any customers for the BlackBerry Storm for example?

Dell has finished a study according to which about 12,000 laptops are lost in airports on a weekly basis. Not around the world, but around the nation. That’s a huge number. Multiply it by 52 and you get more than 600,000 laptops lost every year. I never wondered how many laptops are lost a year, but isn’t that figure a bit too much?
After all people tend to pay quite a sum for their laptops. And even if they have received them for free from their company, they usually pay attention to what happens to them. Besides loosing the laptop itself, you lose all the precious and sometimes confidential personal data. Not to mention any files you were working on and didn’t have time to back up.
Or this is just another intelligent strategy to make us, you know, the people that don’t usually lose our laptops, look for programs and utilities which would protect data once the notebook has been stolen or lost?
We’ve introduced new Dell ProSupport Mobility Services to help costumers protect their laptops and the data that resides on them. Offers included are things like laptop tracking and recovery and a remote data delete option so that if your laptop does go lost or missing we’re able to reach out and remotely delete that sensitive data so it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.
Dell says that 70% of those stolen laptops never get reclaimed. Why oh why? Furthermore 53% of people interviewed said they had confidential data on their laptops with as much as 65% of those not protecting it accordingly. If you do the math, you will get a rather large number of laptops wandering around with other masters, sharing secrets from their previous owners.

According to a survey conducted in Japan on 402 subjects with ages from 20 to 49, the average Japanese cell phone owner doesn’t intend to buy a 3G iPhone. Or better said, didn’t intend to buy one. This study, conducted by iSHARE, was taken on June 5th and 6th, that’s three days before the WWDC where Steve Jobs revealed the 3G iPhone and it’s pricing structure. That’s why it showed that 91% of those interviewed weren’t interested in the new iPhone.

Mobile browsers built-into your cellphones, PDA’s, and even your MP3 players (iPod Touch) have changed the outlook of a lot of people when it comes to mobile devices. A lot of people have finally realized the potential of this technology. Now, browsers in mobile devices have very limited capabilities, however, a lot of features are slowly being added into it and in fact, websites are changing their pages to tailoring it to the mobile browser market.
It is then no surprise when ABI research, a leading market research firm focused on the impact of emerging technologies on global consumer and business markets, reported that the mobile browser market will probably grow to 1.5 Billion units by 2013.
The mobile browsers won’t probably be able to catch up to the PC-based browsers, but its definitely getting there. As mentioned, the things that are hindering mobile browsers, are its limitation, like the absence of important plug-ins such as Flash, AJAX, and the memory constraints of many phones.
ABI Research’s new study, The Mobile Browser Market analyzes the market for mobile browsing, examining the primary commercial offerings from independent browser vendors as well as evaluating the growing important of open-source solutions such as Webkit. The report also looks at the push towards web applications and the use of widgets for mobile devices.
