After securing the rights of exclusively distributing solar powered mobile handsets from ZTE, Uganda Telecoms is now the sole distributor of the said ZTE solar powered phones which commenced in Arua. Arua is a region that has limited access due to the national security grid hence making the solar powered mobile phones a viable alternative for mobile communication without worrying about power issues.
To date, Ugandan natives have to walk long distances just to charge their handsets. With the introduction of these ZTE solar powered mobile phones, all that will be a thing of the past. All they have to do now is make sure that they position their phones under direct sunlight to enjoy continuous mobile communication.
The solar handset is manufactured from recycled materials and has a built-in solar panel, which generates enough energy from an hour of exposure to the sun to keep the phone going for 12 hours.

Verizon hasn’t made it quite clear yet that it plans to dump the BREW platform but why use both when you can easily get anything you want out of a single platform? The company hasn’t announced this new move just yet so we’ll be waiting for the actual press release.
