People who mix coffee while carrying their iPhones can now have an easier time paying for their orders as Starbucks unveils a new iPhone app called the Starbucks Card Mobile app for the iPhone. The new app allows customers to sync their prepaid Starbucks cards, being able to check and add credits in case they are about to use up their credit. For the coffee addicts, the app can also pick up the tab for your next order.

Users can select that “payment trial” function which will display the QR code. The iPhone is then scanned and the cost will be automatically deducted from the balance afterwards. People even get a bonus as they will get free coffee refills and 2 hours of free WiFi access.

This was bound to happen sooner or later but we’re glad it happened now. AT&T will offer free access to its WiFi hotspots network to all Windows Mobile phones owners. That means you’ll be able to walk in a Starbucks coffee shop with a Windows Phone in your hand and check your mail or browse the Internet while you offer yourself a tasty treat.

AT&T has announced that September 14 is going to be the day when all Windows Mobile phone owners will be able to start enjoying those hotspots. The only thing AT&T asks of you is that you get an unlimited data plan or other qualifying data plan in order to take advantage of that free hotspots.

Besides Windows Mobile phones, iPhones and BlackBerry handsets already have access to AT&T’s hotspot network. Who’s going to be next?

It’s our favorite carrier AT&T announcing again they are offering free WiFi access to iPhone users. They have been doing that through May if you remember. Now it was on, later it was off, then tomorrow back on. Lots of announcements and retractions from AT&T officials. It’s like crying wolf all the time.
Well AT&T is crying wolf again. They say that over 17,000 hot spot locations in the USA will offer free internet connectivity to iPhone users in the area. Including Starbucks.

  • I while back ago we told you how T-Mobile was all pissed off at AT&T for stealing their Starbucks sweetheart. And T-Mobile was all going to sue all mighty AT&T (and Starbucks) for a breach of contract or something like that. I imagined they might just have what lawyers call a case and make quite a profit in damages.

How do you like my equation? I’ll simply go ahead and explain it. AT&T, and I have covered a lot of AT&T and iPhone stories these days, have reached an agreement both with Starbucks and Barnes and Nobles to offer WiFi hotspots to their customers.

That’s nice but you still have had to pay for that. But apparently all iPhone users can have that service for free. You just have to log in with your phone number and you can surf the internet with no additional cost when in a Starbucks coffee shop or in a Barnes and Nobles library.

How fair is that? Well apparently if you don’t own an iPhone yet you can simply switch your internet browser to Mobile Safari and you’ll surf for free as well. But hey, it’s a secret, don’t tell anyone! I wonder how long till AT&T will realize and fix it?

Wanna order a coffee from Starbucks? How about doing it through your iPhone? Pretty cool huh? Well, Apple might pick up on this as multimedia designer Phil Lu, has created some mockups of an iPhone application that he calls “QuickOrder”.

As I’ve said, Apple might pick up on this mockup as these designs came out before the publicized patent application that Apple applied that deals with ordering stuff through the iPhone.
