  • Do you own a PlayStation 3 Slim already? In case you don’t then you should get one this week. The 250GB PlayStation 3 Slim is confirmed to arrive in the USA on November 3 and it’s said to cost $349.99. That’s just $50 more than the 120GB model. Do you think it’s worth getting it?

It looks like Best Buy is almost ready to sell the console too as the new PS3 Slim has been spotted in Best Buy’s inventory. The picture has been taken in a Best Buy backroom in Houston, not that it matters that much. Most Best Buy stores must have received the console so you’ll probably find the 250GB PS3 Slim in a Best Buy store near you next week. Anyone excited yet?

For some reason eBook readers are more and more popular these days. After the Kindle we’ve seen Sony’s reader, Barnes & Noble’s Nook and Plastic Logic’s QUE. Asus is also working on a few eReaders and it seems that Creative decided to make one of its own. Dubbed the MediaBook, Creative’s eBook reader might be based on the Zii platform and it’s said to come with some very impressive features like a color touchscreen display ready to let you read all the eBooks you want and support for videos and pictures. Although this MediaBook did get leaked there are no leaked pictures yet. And it’s way too early for pricing details and release dates so we’ll all have to wait for Creative to announce the reader until we get too excited about it.

    Sony Ericsson Rachael Video Leaks

Next Tuesday Sony Ericsson is going to launch its first Android device, the Xperia X3 aka Rachael. Although most people are busy pre-ordering the Droid from Verizon, they should really stop and see what this Rachael phone is all about. The teaser above has been officially leaked and the handset looks pretty interesting. Sure 20 seconds of video featuring a turned-off device isn’t enough for us, is it? But at least we know the Rachael looks better than expected. All we need now are some decent specs and a matching personality and we might just have a Droid competitor on our hands!

  • Sony has a new laptop series ready to be launched, the Vaio X. The Vaio should be made official sometime tomorrow so in the mean time we can take a sneak peak at the “world’s lightest netbook.” The Vaio X comes with a carbon-fiber chassis and weighs a total of just 1.6 pounds. It’s also just half an inch thin, but that pretty clear from the picture here. Other features include a 11.1-inch LED backlit display that will offer you a 16:9 aspect ratio, a multitouch touchpad, an SSD drive, Windows 7 and a choice of battery between the standard battery that’s going to get you a 3.5 hours of battery life while the super extended battery can offer you up to 14 hours of life. The X Series will be available in Canada in November and it will cost $1,499 while other markets should also get the laptop soon.

Sony Ericsson will come out with a new feature that should attract most mobile phone users as it is now working with Comverse to deliver visual voice mails for business and residential users. This new feature is a growing trend as of late as people continue to look for perks to the usual voicemails today. They will be similar to email and will provide pertinent information such as the date, time, message length and caller ID if available. No word on when they will be official although some other companies and networks have also sent feelers of this technology as well.

Sony is really riding the wave on its brand new PS3 Slim. The game console is selling like hot cakes all over the place so it’s no wonder that a 250GB PS3 Slim model has also been developed. The bigger model has apparently arrived in stores and retailers are waiting to sell it to the angry mobs gathering in front of their stores. Ok, maybe there’s nobody lining up to get this model yet as the 250GB PS3 Slim should officially be available starting with October 6. But then again, there’s at least one store that’s selling those boxes in the picture here.

On a different note it looks like October 6 is a day when everyone wants to get noticed. It is definitely not going to be a day dedicated to Microsoft related events like the big Windows Mobile 6.5 launch after all as both Sony and Motorola have apparently big plans scheduled on the very same date. So what will you do on October 6? Follow Microsoft’s launch, grab a 250GB PS3 from Sony or attend Motorola’s MOTODEV event?

A new connector is coming to your future cell phones and mobile devices and its solely purpose is to connect said device to HDTVs and display. The Mobile High-Definition Interface Working Group will conceive it soon as various companies have already agreed upon such a bold endeavor. Nokia, Samsung, Toshiba, Sony and Silicon Image will work together to create the new standard. The question is, do we really need a new standard in our lives? After all we already have so many and with Apple’s and Intel’s Light Peak universal connector that’s coming in a couple of years there isn’t much point for devising an HD-only standard. What are your thoughts on the matter?

It looks like Sony’s PlayStation 3 Slim was the thing Nintendo needed to cut down the price of its popular Wii console by $50. If you want to play motion controlled games you can get the Wii right now or the iPhone 3GS for the same price. The Wii’s new and very official price is $199.99, and although its graphics could be significantly improved, it still offers a better gaming experience than the iPhone or iPod touch when it comes to motion controlled games.

And that’s $100 less than the PS3 Slim! It will be interesting to see if Nintendo can stop the Slim’s popularity. Sony has sold over 1 million Slim consoles in less than three weeks and it’s getting ready to launch the 250GB PS3 Slim version. So what will you choose now folks? The cheaper Wii or the smaller Slim?

    Sony NVU75 GPS System

Sony has released yet another GPS system for the Asian market, this time it is called NVU75 and can also be considered a PND - Personal Navigation Device - due to its special features and small size.

The Sony NVU75 sports a 4.5-inch touchscreen in WQVGA mode, and has 8GB on the internal memory. Thanks to a gyro sensor, this unit is able to provide location information even in tunnels and other spots, in which a normal GPS system lacks the signal to provide information. Other features include bluetooth, an optional 1Seg TV tuner, bluetooth, and can also be used inside a vehicle as a handsfree GPS. So far there is no information about the price or release date.
