All The Latest Cell Phone, Gadget and Tech News

The HTC Touch Pro2 and the HTC Snap are among the first smartphones out there that will be upgraded to Windows Mobile 6.5. We have been aware of all this for a few months but it’s only now that we are able to confirm it. Both phones are upgradeable, at least in theory, to Windows Mobile 6.5. However, depending on where you purchased your Touch Pro2 or Snap phone from, you might not be able to use the upgrade yet. Minor things like carrier branding or phone locking could prevent you from getting the much needed upgrade right now. If that happens then go ahead and complain to customer service about it. You should definitely be able to enjoy Windows Mobile 6.5 no matter what carrier sold you the Touch Pro2 or the Snap. After all, that’s why you purchased these phones in the first place, right?

Telus has three hot phones coming in this July. Two are coming from HTC and you’re probably expecting them: the HTC Snap and the HTC Touch Pro2. The other one is RIM’s latest Berry, the BlackBerry Tour.

It would be interesting to see what Telus’ customers will choose between a new BlackBerry and a new HTC that looks like a BlackBerry. The Tour and the Snap will be launched on the same day, July 15 while the Touch Pro2 is coming only on July 21. The Tour will be available for $249.99 and the Snap for $29.99. The Touch Pro2 will cost $249.99 and these prices will only be available with new 3-year contracts. So what do you say folks? Which phone is it going to be your favorite?

Verizon Wireless is about to launch a new HTC smartphone. The Ozone is scheduled to arrive on June 29 online and July 13 if you’d rather wait to buy it straight from a representative. We don’t have any prices ready for you and there aren’t even that many details about this Windows Mobile phone yet. But since we do know is that the Ozone is basically the HTC Snap we don’t actually need any other specs, do we? What do you think folks? Are you buying this Berry-like smartphone from Verizon next week? Or would you rather get it from Sprint tomorrow?

Sprint is not thinking only Pre thoughts, is it? The carrier is said to launch the HTC Touch Pro2 or the Rhodium sometime in June. According to leaked information the Touch Pro2 will be available in mid-June so Windows Mobile lovers will be able to finally get a phone capable of running version 6.5 of Microsoft’s Mobile OS. Should we also assume that Microsoft will have the Marketplace ready by that time too?

And since we’re talking HTC, the Snap will be available in July. Now you can really make up your mind. What would you choose between the Pre or the Touch Pro2?

  • That’s right you lucky Canadians, you heard me right, Telus is indeed going to launch to hot HTC phones soon. The HTC Snap and the Touch Pro2 received the World Edition moniker which must mean that both phones will be able to offer you EV-DO Rev. A and dual-band GSM capabilities. There’s nothing official about the two new HTC phones yet but the word on the street is that both handsets are present in Telus’ inventory. Which one would you choose? The BlackBerry-like HTC Snap or the Windows Mobile 6.5 ready HTC Touch Pro2?

Sprint will not only launch the Pre this year. Other phone worth mentioning are also going to be available from this carrier. One such example is the HTC Snap. It looks like Sprint will baptize it the HTC Snap S511 and it will launch it this summer. There’s no official release date available just yet but it’s being said that Sprint is testing the device already. We’ll have to wait for an official version and maybe for some prices too before we all get too excited for this QWERTY HTC phone.

T-Mobile is prepared to offer more phones in the following months. The most interesting handsets so far are the HTC Snap and the Touch Pro2 or the Wing II which will arrive in July: the Snap on the 1st while the Wing II will make its appearance on the 22nd. So far nothing is certain but all we need is a rumor to start dreaming about our favorite phones anyway.

Besides these two beauties, T-Mobile has other surprises for you. The Sony Ericsson “CS8?” which could be the C905 is set to arrive on June 24. The Sidekick Blade is scheduled to arrive on May 13. Last but not least, we have a few Samsung cell phones: T469 and T559 will arrive on July 15, T749 on July 22, T659 on August 19.

We’ll be digging for more details since we don’t have all the facts about some of the models here and we’ll get back to you with the updates.

Looking for a new GPS unit? How about one of the two new Nextar creations? The SNAP 5 and the SNAP 7 are the devices I am talking about. The SNAP 5 has a 5-inch touchscreen while the 7 has a 7-inch touchscreen. Nothing unexpected so far, but it’s quite an upgrade from the SNAP 3 version! Both devices are just 0.7 inch thick and they will get you stereo speakers. text-to-speech support, Tele Atlas maps, an SD card slot, MP3 player functionality, 2D/3D viewing modes, a rechargeable Li-ion battery and a magnetic docking station.

Both devices will arrive at the SEMA 2008 in November but they will arrive in stores only next Spring. Prices you ask? $299.99 or $349.99, depending on which one you’ll pick!
