This is definitely not a joke and the number is real. An AT&T customer decided to break the world record for sending SMS messages and he has apparently done so successfully. Using an iPhone 3GS he managed to send 662,258 SMS messages in one month. You do the math, and if you end up with about 15 texts/minute (that’s without sleeping), then you should be about right. Don’t you get bored sending all those messages? Do you have time to do anything else during the day? Or maybe all these messages are one-word texts in which case it sounds a little easier to be accomplished. Or should we assume it’s all fake?
But the best part comes now! AT&T printed the bill and sent it over to the guy. That’s 12,301 printed pages in three boxes. I bet some AT&T employees were at least a bit annoyed with this particular bill!

Phone thefts are something common and with the rising number, people are getting wary of carrying out high-end mobile phones as well as the data contained. Today, most phones today are used by people and professionals as far as storing confidential data. In fact, you may say that these are equally important like the actual phone itself.
F-Secure unveils a new software security solution that comes with an anti-theft feature. Now, stolen phones may end up unusable at all. This is because auto-locks on the data and the phone itself in case the thief tried to use another SIM card will activate the theft-control feature and instantly locks the device.
In case of data protection when the phone falls into the wrong hands, one simple SMS message will automatically lock the phone. As an ultimate safety measure to prevent misuse, remote wipe erases all of the data on the phone when its user sends an SMS message to the device.
F-Secure Mobile Security 5 with anti-theft will be available by June 24, 2009. It is already available for S60 3rd and 5th edition smartphones through the F-Secure eStore

If only it were this simple! Everyone knows that by now, the real problem that people have to address is the filing of their taxes. People are scrambling with all the paperwork and fulfilling the requirements to avoid legal issues and penalties. But did you know that in Sweden, all it takes is one SMS message and you are done?
To file taxes in Sweden all you need to do is open a new text message, enter your Social Security number and a security code sent to you by mail, and zip it off to the Department of the Treasury. This is how lots of Swedish people will file their income taxes in May, as they have for the last five years.
So what’s the downside?
What Swedes actually do with their cell phone is sign a tax declaration that has already been prepared by the country’s tax authority, officially called Skatteverket. It already knows everything about Swedish taxpayers’ income–from a range of sources.
Taxpayers can only sign their forms via text (the number’s 71144) if they accept all the Skatteverket’s calculations and if–to the great joy of the agency–they renounce all deductions.
