All The Latest Cell Phone, Gadget and Tech News

Ready for watching some Sling streaming TV on your webOS or Android phone? Well it looks like Sling Media is looking forward to offer its SlingPlayer to Android and webOS phones. Before it can really do that the company is looking to hire a Mobile Interface Designer who has lots of Android and/or webOS experience. I wonder how the carriers feel about all this. Will they let their future webOS and Android subscribers watch TV via Sling Player all at once?

In the mean time if you’re looking for a job at Sling Media and meet the following conditions:

Be knowledgeable about and/or interested in becoming an expert on the existing user interface paradigms used on iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Symbian, Android, and Palm WebOS

and then go ahead and apply for it! You might just the key person that will bring Sling TV to our future smartphones.

Many people have been waiting for the SlingPlayer to be available for the iPhone but that’s not going to happen soon. Why you ask? Well AT&T seems to have a problem with Sling Media’s player so it has requested that it should be rejected from the App store. AT&T vetoed the app as it fears it cause awful bandwidth consumption. On the other hand other handsets sold by AT&T are already using SlingPlayer versions. What about them? Aren’t they consuming any bandwidth?

Hope is not lost though as Apple hasn’t actually canceled the player yet. Maybe SlingPlayer will be given the go ahead after all.

Sling Media made its SlingPlayer available for most mobile platforms out there so it was time the iPhone got its version too. The application is almost ready to come out and when it does you will able to take full advantage of your SlingPlayer Mobile straight from your iPhone. While the iPhone application will surely cost you a penny or two but Sling Media will offer SlingPlayer for Mac HD free of charge. That means you will be able to stream HD content from your Slingbox PRO-HD straight to your Mac.

The YouTube video above doesn’t look that great but the iPhone player will get you much better video quality when it will arrive later this quarter. We’re probably waiting for Apple to approve it, right Apple?

Nokia N95

High-speed internet on your mobile phone is here, thanks to the new Nokia N95 with support for High Speed Download Package Access (HSDPA) in North American networks. The spanking new N95 is now shipping across the US. Featuring some new upgrades - including Assisted GPS (A-GPS) technology - N95 users can also take advantage of the new SlingPlayer Mobile for Symbian OS to enjoy your home TV programming. You can even watch broadcasts of content recorded to a DVR from anywhere a HSDPA or WiFi network is available.

The Nokia N95’s integrated A-GPS combined with Nokia Maps is great for mapping and routing in over 150 countries and there’s support for full turn-by-turn satellite navigation in over 30 countries. If you hurry, you can also get a 1-month navigation license, a city guide of your choice and additional maps pre-loaded on a 1GB memory card.

Priced at US $699, the new Nokia N95 is now available at the Nokia Flagship Store in New York City and Chicago. It is definitely tempting me to chuck out my Nokia N73 music edition phone but at that price I’d probably keep my N73 for a few more months.
