The FCC Approves Sirius-XM Merger

If you like either Sirius or XM satellite radio shows, you should be happy to hear the FCC has approved with a 3 vs 2 vote, the merger between this two companies. With Sirius and XM being the only two satellite radio operators in the USA, why do I feel this whole deal has the word monopoly firmly stamped on it? After all with such a strong alliance would anyone else dare to start any other new satellite radio company?

    Polk Audio announced the new miDock Portfolio, a dock for Sirius Satellite Radio’s Stiletto portable radios. The miDock is a portable speaker system that runs on AA batteries or AC power and conveniently docks the Stiletto 10, Stiletto 100 and even the new Stiletto 2. Featuring a rugged design, the miDock allows subscribers of Sirius satellite radio to acccess live content anywhere. It holds flat and comes with a protective case, so you can also carry it around on your travels.

    The dock is equipped with high resolution micro speakers, designed to deliver quality audio. When connected to an AC adapter, the miDock doubles up as a charger for the Stiletto when playing audio at the same time. With the included remote control, you can wirelessly control playback. And if that’s your thing, you can also connect another audio device to your Portfolio through the aux input.

    The Polk Audio Designs miDock Portfolio for Stiletto comes with a window-sill antenna, AC adapter and adapters for different Stiletto models.

    Sirius.jpgEarlier today, Sirius Satellite Radio announced the launch of the new version of its popular Dock & Play radio, the Sportster 5. The new device features a color display that subscribers can easily adjust to match car dash lights or mood, with user-selectable screen and backlight colors.

    The Sportster 5 is equipped with a large, multicolor, easy-to-read 6-line display plus a rotary tuning knob. Its selectable color feature allows the display screen to be adjusted to match the car dash lights, stereo display or the user’s mood. Sportster 5 measures 4.5″ x 2.5″ x .6″ and at just 3.7 ounces, it is the lightest Sportster yet.

    The Sportster 5, conveniently transportable between home and car, is easy to use and comes with a smaller universal dock for attractive installation.

    The Sportster 5 is scheduled to be available in fall 2007 with a suggested retail price of $169.99
