Nokia Siemens is getting ready to pay $650 million to Nortel for all the LTE and CDMA assets of it. Nortel has been going through some tough times and consequently it filed for bankruptcy back in January 2009. That’s how Nokia Siemens ended up purchasing that huge LTE and CDMA chunk of Nortel which should come in handy some time in the future especially since Nokia is interested in strengthening its North American presence. The purchase should be completed by the third quarter of the year as soon as the US bankruptcy court and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice will approve it.

Vertu, the luxury brand of Nokia is set to open mobile services in Japan. They will become the first mobile phone maker to encroach on the Japanese service provider domain, which has been dominated by domestic companies.
This new service will allow subscribers to access a host of mobile services including ‘Club VERTU,’ which includes a special members-only concierge. This new service will be supported by the Nokia Siemens Networks’ hosted Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) solution.
“Meeting the needs of customers in this segment requires a specialised approach. Vertu users the world over are discerning individuals who are willing to pay a premium for the right experience,” Tagore Ramoutar, Vertu’s director of business development for Japan and Korea, said in a statement.

When we first saw the presentation of this pretty Amilo GPU, we heard it was going to be out on the shelves soon! This Graphic Booster features an ATI Radeon HD 3870 with a 512 MB GDDR3 dedicated video memory. It weighs only 0.5 kg and features USB, DVI-I and HDMI ports.
What this Fujitsu Siemens GPU unit does is to offer you an improved gaming experience and up to 470% increase in graphics performance. Why, you ask? Well, its just external graphic card! That’s what it is meant to do. Wonder if I can add that to my current laptop. And when will it arrive anyway? And how much will it cost?

Dell hasn’t officially announced the Dell Mini E and while we’re pretty much guessing about it, Fujitsu Siemens seems ready to roll out their Amilo Mini.
There’s a scheduled event to take place on August 28th at the IFA show in Berlin and all the signs and rumors point to an official Amilo Mini release. According to rumors this netbook will be priced from $600 to $800. The only innovation this Mini brings is the changeable face plates which isn’t something I’d be looking for in a portable computer.

Surprisingly Siemens can still manufacture phones and while they won’t be taking a huge share of the market they will launch a handset or two from time to time. And it’s time they went eco-friendly too. Their Gigaset Eco Visions Leaf and Solar phones will be made from recycled materials while the Sun’s energy will get them the juice they need to properly function. No details on availability and pricing but when they do hit the market, you’ll be among the first to know.
