The Sidekick Download Catalog has updated today with additions of both Facebook and Twitter applications. The applications are available for the 2008 Sidekick, Sidekick LX, and Sidekick Slide.

The Facebook application is free of charge, although the Twitter application does not share the same fate, costing a rather pricey $2 a month.

The 2009 Sidekick came pre-packaged with these applications.

The Sidekick is probably the last phone a business executive would turn to when they are picking up a new smartphone. However, a recent press release suggests that the Sidekick is getting a bit more business oriented.

For $5 added onto your monthly T-Mobile subscription you will be looking at real time push email along with Exchange support. Yes, the Sidekick LX ‘09 will officially be getting Exchange support thanks to the new Sidekick Sync app.

In addition to Exchange and push email support Sidekick sync will offer you the ability to view attachments and configure sync schedules.

We’ve shown you that blurry picture of the LX 2009 which was filled with specs and pictures. Well we have a better quality picture showing the same features and pictures. The logical conclusion is that this LX 2009 is real and it’s coming. So is T-Mobile going to launch it soon? Will anyone else pick it up? Is it going to be called the Sidekick 2 or the Blade?

T-Mobile Sidekick for Kids

Carrying over from the Sidekick LX, the new T-Mobile Sidekick 2008 looks a lot like it was made for kids. The newest Sidekick measures 4.7 by 2.3 by 0.7 inches. It’s roughly the same size as the iPhone 3G, but a little thicker. The Sidekick 2008 is a refined Sidekick LX that costs $50 less.

While the Sidekick line has never been known for shooting great images, the Sidekick 2008’s 2-megapixel camera is capable of snagging 1600-by-1200-resolution photos. The camera can capture video but only in 20-second clips.
