DoCoMo has presented a new cellphone for their Winter Collection, that comes with a great pack of features which are rare to see in current handsets.
Entitled SH-01A, it is made by Sharp and comes with a 3.3-inch VGA (Aquos) LCD screen that is able to provide a top-notch 16:9 video viewing mode. The screen is also good enough to watch TV on the go thanks to the 1Seg TV Tuner. In terms of multimedia, the DoCoMo mobile phone has a 8-megapixel camera with face detection function, and can playback audio + video files.
If those features are not enough, maybe GPS and Virtual 5.1ch Dolby Mobile (for good sound) will please your needs?

Sharp introduced a new Aquos cellphone named Fulltouch 931SH, that will most likely only be available for purchase in the Asian market, in Japan to be more exact.
The Fulltouch 931SH sports an unusual screen size and resolution that is rare to see in today’s handsets, we’re talking about a 3.8-inch touchscreen that can provide 1024×480 pixels as the resolution. You’ll quickly find a netbook with those settings instead of a cellphone…
Anyhow, the latest Sharp Aquos addition includes 1-Seg Tuner to watch TV on the go, a good 5.2-megapixel camera, a normal music player, and bluetooth. Extras include a 3G connection and RFID functionality.

We have four of the Japan’s finest companies that decided to play together in order to create a SH-Mobile G4 single-chip LSI device. Wow, that’s so cool, I will want two or three of those!
Seriously speaking, NTT DoCoMo, Renesas, Fujitsu and Sharp are working on a handset which will have GSM/GPRS/EDGE support and HSUPA/HSDPA/W-CDMA standards. The Japanese companies are getting ready a cell phone that’s going to offer HSUPA speeds of up to 5.7Mbps and HSDPA speeds of up to 7.2Mbps. The devices will come with 45-nm processors, 3D graphics support, HD support and more. The SH-Mobile G4 will arrive in 2010, which is a long long time from now. Maybe too long!

CEATEC is a popular IT & Electronics Exhibition that takes place in Japan, and the latest 2008 edition was one week ago - from 30 September to 4 October. One of the cutting-edge devices presented at the expo came from Sharp, and it is named Softbank 9225H.
The handset is a bit strange in terms of design, but in the inside you can find a full QWERTY keyboard which isn’t very common to see in this type of phones.
On the list of specifications the Sharp Softbank 9225H offers 1seg TV tuner, a 2-megapixel camera, a 3.5-inch VGA (internal) screen, a multimedia player, a microSDHC slot to store all the audio and video data, and lastly, e-mail functionality.

If Facebook doesn’t have anymore secrets to you anymore, you must have discovered the LifeChangingBox FaceBook game promoted by Lowe New York a while ago. For about a month, from June to July people had to guess what the product inside the Life Changing Box was. And it proved to be Sharp. Some lucky winners went home with thousands of dollars worth in prizes. And that was just the begining of Sharp’s Life Changing promotion
As you can see in the video Sharp will continuously work to offer us a better LCD experience as they have quite a few years of LCD innovation. Besides that Sharp will work on including solar energy in their production lines so here’s another company thinking eco-friendly thoughts.
And since Sharp is the HDTV official of Major League Baseball you might want to try one of their LCD’s to get the full Olympic action coming from China starting tomorrow. Any sports action will certainly run smoothly on a Sharp LCD.
Now I am only sorry for not getting that much Sharp Facebook time… Not that I would have ever guessed who was in the box!

It was only yesterday that I showed you how small a 5 megapixels camera from Sharp could be. That’s a camera that will be inserted into lots of mobile devices.

With features like these, I would definitely pony up some to get my hands on the Sharp DM002SH, but it’s only the Japanese children who will be lucky this time. Headed for Softbank, the DM002SH clamshell has the “Disney” tag attached to it, but I find no trace of anything cartoonish about this cell phone. Even the diamond-patterned outer shell looks more endearing to a teenager than a kid still watching Disney classics. If you think this just oozes style with no substance, you are wrong. The Disney phone is a 3G-ready device with HSDPA support and rocks two displays, a 2.6 inch internal WVGA with a 0.5-inch OLED display on the outside. There’s a 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, infrared, a microSD slot, and 50MB of built-in memory. Mobile TV has become the norm in almost all of the recently released cell phones in Japan and the DM002SH is no exception.
The Sharp DM002SH will be available in June on Japan’s Softbank carrier and if you have promised your kid to get him/her one, you better have a large enough wallet, at least for Disney’s sake!

FCC has given approval to Sharp Japan’s PV210 GSM mobile phone. This one is a Sidekick model. As per the test reports, Jabra’s Bluetooth headset will be compatible with the Sharp PV210 cell phone. Also, a little disappointing, it is without 3G connectivity. I think they have kept it highly confidential. There are no pics on FCC!!! Only the label information is provided. Check it out after the break:

Akhibara News got a chance to play around with the smallest Vista-toting UMPC, the D4 from Willcom, which is based on Sharp’s WS016SH. The MID has a slide-out keyboard and a 5-inch touchscreen, good enough to watch OneSeg digital TV available in Japan. Akhibara come out feeling satisfied about the device, albeit the 1.33GHz Centrino Atom proved a bit too slow to handle Vista Home Premium, but given that it was only an almost ready prototype they were testing, there might be a few changes to solve this issue. With 1GB of RAM, 40GB HDD, and a 2-megapixel camera, there is also WiFi, Bluetooth, and mini-USB completing its connectivity options.
The Willcom D4 is set for a release in the second quarter of 2008. No price details are available yet. Go ahead and take a look at the video after the break.

Sharp Corporation of Japan decided to branch out after its disappointing sales performance as it faced difficulties in trying to compete with low-priced Nokia phones. Sharp, however, decided to take a different approach and target the high-end market, plunging into growing economies such as China. Sharp will now be the only Japanese firm selling handsets in Korea since fellow Japanese company, Kyocera, withdrew from the market. The start of sales is projected to be on June, 2008, before the Beijing Olympics begin.

Just taking a look at this phone tells me where it’s from. Judging by the box-ish clamshell look it shares with just about every other phone in the land, I’d know the new Sharp FOMA SH705iII Cell Phone is for Japan. The new Sharp FOMA SH705iII has a 2.8-inch Sharp FOMA SH705iII 400 x 240 resolution TFT screen, a 3.2 megapixel camera, a 0.8-inch 96 x 39 resolution monochromatic OLED display, a microSD card slot, and 1-Seg TV tuner. Based on what I see, the Sharp FOMA SH705iII phone which will be an exclusive DoCoMo device, looks better than a lot of its contemporaries. Still, I wish a Japanese phone would break tradition and have an entirely different design.

Just like millions of people around the globe are clamoring for the iPhone, the Japanese too, want their share of the iPhone pie. Hence, Softbank introduced the new Softbank Fullface 2 aka 921SH to fill the void of the popular handset in the Japanese market. Of course, it’s still different from the Jesus phone. The SoftBank 921SH features a keyboard which slides behind the 3.2-inch VGA LCD. That LCD isn’t a touch screen like the iPhone’s either, although the SoftBank 921SH has a motion sensor at the bottom. This device, manufactured by Sharp, has a 3.2 megepixel camera, music player, Bluetooth connectivity, 1-Seg TV tuner, and high-speed 3G. It will be available in black, white, bright blue, gold, and pink by early March of 2008.

And yet another mobile phone to be released by Softbank in the Japanese market is the Sharp 922SH mobile handset. The Sharp 922SH features a 3.5-inch VGA LCD using Sharp’s Aquos technology. It has a full QWERTY keyboard, high-speed 3G connection, Bluetooth connectivity, and multimedia player among others. The Sharp 922SH measures 56×116x17mm, and weighs about 32 grams. Aside from the main 3.5-inch LCD, it also features a 1.18-inch sub-LCD at the front. The Sharp 922SH will be available in gold bronze, metallic black, pearl white, and pearl pink on late March 2008.

Back in August 2007, we had reported on the rumors circulations about Sharp’s Sidekick 4. In CES earlier this month, Sharp has unveiled the new PDA: Sharp PV250 with swiveling LCD, or the Sidekick 4 (also called Shuriken). The swiveling LCD feature makes the PDA quite versatile, allowing you to view the screen in different angles. The QWERTY keyboard is 18mm thick, it has a slot for microSD cards and it sports a 1.3-megapixel camera. These are the only specs known as of late. No release date or price yet.

How did we miss this? Recently at IFA 2007 a Sharp mobile phone was displayed and it looks so much like the famous Sidekicks. In fact, I’m betting it is the much anticipated Sidekick 4! Well, here’s a picture of the phone. Until Sharp officially reveals it, we leave the decision on whether it is the Sidekick 4 or not to the readers.

Everyone has waited for the Sidekick 4 AKA the Shuriken for quite some time now. The Sidekick is going to be the true successor to the Sidekick 3, as opposed to some tangential compromise like the Sidekick iD. There has been rumors about the design and features of the Sidekick 4 that I’m sure all of you out there won’t pass up.
If these rumors spread around is correct, then the Sidekick 4 will have a wide screen that fills out the entire middle section of the device. It would probably still have the same set (and face) of buttons as the Sidekick 3. It would also feature a 1.3 megapixel camera and a MicroSD slot.
Aside from that, early reports indicated that the Sidekick 4 has been assigned the model number “PV250,” way above the Sidekick 3’s “PV200,” which means that the Shuriken will be the next generation Sidekick that everyone should get excited about.
