We’ve seen several phones coming out of China Mobile that have been running the OPhone mobile operating system. However, China Mobile hasn’t released an SDK that would allow users to develop their own content.
Luckily, China Mobile has today announced that their OPhone OS SDK iss now available for download.
This will come as great news to two groups of people. First, to those using OPhone powered devices as their will be an increasing number of apps for download. And second, to those who develop mobile apps for a living as there is now one more platform to cash in on.

If you’re looking to get a leg up on the competition before Palm officially releases their App Catalog SDK kit to the public, you’re in luck. The pirates are at it again as it was recently discovered that the Palm Pre Mojo SDK has been leaked ono torrent sites everywhere.
Of course, Palm isn’t going to let rogue developers put their creations onto the App Catalog but at least you can get some practice in.
While Palm hasn’t said anything about this leak, chances are they won’t be pleased, so be sure to download at your own risk.

It looks like the Pre is clearly a hot phone and more importantly the webOS is definitely a mobile platform which should be taken seriously by potential developers. The Palm App Catalog has just hit 1 million downloads which is really impressive considering that there are below 30 available applications so far. It looks like Palm should really hurry with that SDK. The number of available apps will surely increase and so will the number of downloads. Sprint should also sell even more Pre units in the following months which means that even more people will be looking for applications. What do you think, when will Palm hit 10 million downloads?

If Palm wants to make the most of the Pre and its webOS then it should make sure those interested developers will be ready to unleash their creativity on the webOS platform as soon as possible. With the high standards Apple has set in the mobile application business, most customers choosing a smartphone will want lots of available applications.
Palm is going to expand its Mojo SDK early access program and more developers will be accepted soon. By more we mean thousands of new devs getting access in the following weeks. The SDK will be however released for the public only later this summer. We’ve already seen that early Pre buyers have already download 700,000 apps and we’re counting on that number to increase significantly over the next couple of months.

Palm Pre vs iPhone 3GS will be an interesting fight to watch. On one hand we have the rebirth of a cell phone manufacturer and on the other hand we have a young but evermore popular cell phone manufacturer. Both Palm and Apple have released two amazing cell phones, the Pre and the iPhone 3GS and it will be hard to chose one to take home.
And while the eyes of the world are focused on the WWDC in San Francisco, Palm isn’t wasting any time. Over the weekend the first webOS update went live. Version 1.0.2 is now available and it’s supposed to bring stability to your Pre and a new alarm clock. In case you didn’t get it already then go to your Sprint updater and download it OTA style.
As for the SDK, don’t worry developers, Palm said soon. There’s no actual date but you will be programing applications for Palm’s new hot OS soon enough. And when you do, make sure you drop us a line!

There’s a lot of talk about the Pre this days and AT&T seems busy with lots of other handsets but for the iPhone. Nonetheless, new iPhone news manage to squeeze by. Take this bad quality image right here for example. The latest beta of the iPhone SDK has icons in it which show the new phone in all its splendor. The image above shows the iPhone 2,1 which is of course the phone we’re waiting for Apple to launch. In case it looks awfully familiar that’s because the phone there is the iPhone 3G. Are we to understand that Apple hasn’t redesigned the phone? Or is it hiding it?

The European market is about to get three more Android handsets and they aren’t coming from HTC. Samsung is the maker and its first Android phones should all be launched in Europe by the end of the year. The first phone should be launched by June but we don’t have any details yet. At least one of them will come with full touchscreen support and we’re expecting Samsung to use Android 1.5 on it. Android 1.5 SDK has been unveiled to developers and we’ll be waiting for it to make its public appearance soon. Will Android 1.5 be ready by June? Will Samsung launch these three Android smartphones in other markets too? We will keep you posted once we find out more.

Google has recently gone ahead and given the public a general overview of what they can expect in Android 1.5 when it hits thanks to their release of a previous version of the 1.5 SDK.
Evidentally included in the 1.5 update are a bunch of new features along with a bunch of bug fixes. 1.5 will add support for stereo Bluetooth, an onscreen software keyboard, video recording capabilities, and the ability to connect third party keyboards among other things.
iPhone’s 3.0 OS update is steadily approaching and Android remains its biggest competitor. Will adding features that the iPhone doesn’t have give Android the upper hand?

A new Nokia software development kit - SDK - was released by Nokia earlier today, it is made for the Series 40 and is currently on its 6th edition. This latest SDK will be a useful tool for all the developers, because it includes new tools and services that make it easy to create innovative applications.
The fresh Series 40 6th Edition is able to support the Nokia WebKit Open Source Browser for a good experience while browsing the internet, and also Adobe Flash Lite 3.0 for apps that need attention on the graphics department. For navigation purposes it makes use of JSR-179 - a JAVA-based location API.
Other goodies include an emulator to test everything, from Java to Flash Lite, and the ability to have access to video streaming + image rendering.

This comes out of nowhere really. The non-disclosure agreement regarding the development of iPhone applications with the iPhone SDK is out for good. Apple has dropped it and sent out an official statement:

Google has an Android phone working already and it has an Android Market waiting to be filled with applications. Google’s Android SDK v1.0 has been released so developers can go wild creating some applications.
That means you can’s stop working on that v0.9 and update your application so it’s ready by October 22nd. It has been reported that there aren’t significant changes besides various bug fixes and a few API additions

Things appear to be better for the Xperia X1. Sony Ericsson has launched the SDK for it which means software creators out there can start inventing new Windows Mobile applications for the handset.
The SDK runs on visual studio so it will be quite easy for developers to start working on new apps. Testing them won’t require an actual Xperia X1 phone since all testing can be done straight on the PC where the handset is emulated.
The SDK release should suggest an official launch closing in soon. From what we know, Sony Ericsson has confirmed a Q4 release without suggesting any actual dates.

The much-awaited and much-touted turn-by-turn GPS feature on iPhone 3G may not be far away as Apple has just released a beta version of iPhone 2.1 software for the developers. There’s a new version of the iPhone SDK seeded as well, but developers can’t submit their products to the App Store for now using this SDK. Inclusion of Core Location features like monitoring traveling speed and direction tracking point most probably to turn-by-turn GPS but we will let the developers do their magic and take a tablet of patience until that’s a reality.

Finally! After months upon months of mentioning the iPhone SDK, and upon spending its whole existence in the Apple labs, subject to Steve Jobs’s scrutinizing gaze, it looks like the Apple iPhone SDK is finally seeing the light of day. Postponing its supposed February release (hopefully to ensure that everything is perfect), Apple is hosting a talk on 10 am, March 6 at its Cupertino headquarters. Here’s what Steve and co. sent the members of the press:
“Please join us to learn about the iPhone software roadmap, including the iPhone SDK and some exciting new enterprise features,.”
Fantastic.

Via The Unofficial Apple Weblog comes news that the iPhone SDK will finally see daylight, after spending the last few months in Apple’s labs. As we saw earlier, the Apple iPhone Opens Up, the SDK will allow developers to write new apps that run on the iPhone platform. These apps will also run seamlessly on the iPod touch (minus those that depend on the cellular network, of course).
There is also another update to the iPhone - version 1.1.4. I am still running 1.1.2 for reasons known only to me, and I don’t plan on upgrading my firmware anytime soon. Anyway, the source of this information, Tiny Code, has been taken down - it now redirects to Apple’s developer website. Quite interesting — I don’t know if Apple’s lawyers had anything to do with it. Stay tuned.
