It seems the problem was a bit more widespread than we anticipated — Following a recent lawsuit brought before Amazon.com regarding the Kindle 2’s screens being prone to cracking, the company has released a press release stating that they will in fact replace cracked screens absolutely free.

If you are familiar with Amazon’s policy, they previously charged a $200 fee for the same repair. Perhaps Apple can learn a thing or two from Amazon.3

They’ve finally done it. And it was about time, if you ask me. The High Definition LED screen is the first true 720p high definition display in Times Square and it’s composed of 1,266,400 LEDs.

Karl Bearnarth, senior vice president, marketing, JVC Company of America says:

Times Square might have changed a bit in the 30 years that JVC has had a presence there, but it continues to live up to its nickname as the ‘crossroads of the world’. For many of the millions of visitors that pass through the area every year, the bright lights and billboards are a main attraction. We think our new high definition billboard will create plenty of excitement thanks to its stunning resolution and our creative use of all three LED display areas.

The giant screen measures 19 x 34 feet and features a 16:9 wide screen aspect ratio and a 1280 x 720 resolution. Another 71-foot LED ticker is running beneath it and curves below the base of the JVC globe. Did I forget to mention the globe, well yeah, there also is the Globe. The Globe that has been marking the northeast Broadway corner with 43rd Street. But it has been refurbished using a high density fluorescent paint, so it’ definitely a must see! Actually I don’t think you can miss it while wandering around Times Square! So be sure to take a look!
