The Korean manufacturer has officially announced the 12mpx shooter we saw yesterday and granted, the device is a great cameraphone but how bad is it’s official name? Called the AMOLED 12M, the name leaves nothing to imagination and already reveals an AMOLED display and a 12 megapixel camera. Run out of fancy names already Samsung? Anyways, we already knew about the AMOLED display and the banging 12mpx lens but, going by the official announcement, the AMOLED 12M does seem a bit disappointing. We still get the awesome 3.3-inch AMOLED touchscreen, microSD expansion, Bluetooth, terrestrial DMB receiver, and HD video recording, but there isn’t a tiniest clue on inclusion of WiFi or GPS, which makes it an awesome cameraphone but a lousy featurephone in other areas. No, it’s not the yesteryear Walkman phone with the same model number, but it is so much more. The SCH-W880 will be a monster in the realm of cameraphones and comes with tons of features that are normally associated with a digital camera. Besides the awesome 12-megapixel lens, the device sports a lot of camera-centric options like a 3x optical zoom, dedicated camera button, HD video recording, and a mode dial, which is a first on a handset, and a 3.3-inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen display. There are no details on its other specs but the current-standard features like WiFi, GPS, microSD expansion, and Bluetooth wouldn’t be out of place. The SCH-W880 is rumored for a release on SKT in South Korea in the near future, so we will hit you up with more details as they emerge.
