We have previously mentioned the Toshiba Satellite T130 notebook a few months ago when it was still 2009, but more recently at the MWC 2010, Toshiba came up with a new and improved version of the laptop which features a built-in 4G LTE network module made by Ericsson.
With this new 4G LTE network model, the Toshiba T130 can handle download speeds of approximately 100Mbps, which makes the laptop special because it is one of the first ones using this technology. In the inside of the T130 you can opt for one of 3 Intel processors, and also customize the memory RAM that can have a maximum of 8GB. Other features include a 13.3-inch display screen that provides a resolution of 1366×768 pixels.

This is not the first time we’re showing you this cool hybrid phone capable of handling both cellular and satellite connectivity. We knew the TerreStar Genus was coming and it looks like AT&T is the chosen carrier. The phone has some interesting features like a 2.6-inch touchscreen display, full QWERTY keyboard, WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth. In terms of connectivity the TereStar Genus can handle GSM/GPRS/EDGE and dual 3G connectivity (UMTS/HSDPA) but also Terrestar’s 2.2GHz satellite connectivity. That means you’ll be able to make the switch to satellite whenever AT&T lets you down, and apparently that could happen in 30% of cases. In order for everything to work properly you’ll need to be prepared to get two different plans and not be surprised to see roaming charges add up. That’s right, when you’re going on satellite mode, you’ll be paying roaming charges! The phone will be available at the beginning of 2010 so there’s plenty of time to assess your need for a satellite phone in your life!

Somehow we missed the good news for Japan last week, because Toshiba has launched a new series of Dynabook Satellite laptops, named PXW. At the moment there are 2 models on the shelves, more specifically the 55GW and 57GW.
The price difference between each is €130 ($174), and that is only caused by the different processor and graphics card. The low-end model 55GW has an Intel Celeron 575 at 2GHz and an Intel GL40 Express chipset, while the high-end laptop features an Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 at 2.26GHz.
All the other specifications, such as the 15.4-inch LCD screen with a 1280×800 resolution, standard 2GB of memory that can be expanded up to 4GB, the DVD Super Multi Drive, Wi-Fi, and multi-card reader, are present in both models.

Pioneer has launched a handheld satellite radio named XMp3, which is available for purchase as we speak with a price tag of $280. The portable device can be considered a 2-in-1 unit thanks to the double function of working as a media player, and a radio. To take advantage of the media player features, just insert some MP3 (or WMA) files to a microSD memory card.
A useful feature on the XMp3 is the ability to record 5 different XM stations at the same time, which means you’ll never miss your favorite program. The recording limit is close to 100 hours, and thanks to the electronic program guide you can create advanced schedules.

The Toshiba E105 was announced a few days ago, and it is already available for pre-order online at BestBuy for $1,200. The laptop has a reasonable price and fair specs, but there are a few details that could be improved, maybe we’ll see that change in the next model.
Anyway, the Satellite E105 is a 14.1-inch laptop with a hard-drive of 320GB, a DVD burner and a card reader that supports various formats. The technical stuff includes an Intel 4500MHD integrated graphics, which will surely make the 1280×800 resolution a good one. The processor is a 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo, and the RAM memory is pretty good at 4GB of DDR2.

There’s another netbook from Toshiba ready to enter the already over saturated market. It’s the Toshiba Satellite NB105 from Toshiba Mexico. But don’t worry, it’s basically the same computer we’ve gotten used to under a different name.
The Toshiba NB105 features:
Surprisingly there’s no Linux version available yet. And we don’t know anything about prices yet but they should be in the usual range.

If you like either Sirius or XM satellite radio shows, you should be happy to hear the FCC has approved with a 3 vs 2 vote, the merger between this two companies. With Sirius and XM being the only two satellite radio operators in the USA, why do I feel this whole deal has the word monopoly firmly stamped on it? After all with such a strong alliance would anyone else dare to start any other new satellite radio company?

I could actually see this working. I mean who wouldn’t want a cell phone, a GPS receiver, a PDA, VOIP phone, AND a satellite phone bundled into one, minus the bulky satellite antenna. And the fact that it will all be laid out on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional with all the usual connectivity options including WiFi and Bluetooth makes me like this one even more. It will also have a QVGA touchscreen and a 3-megapixel camera rounding its already fabulous features, while being a tad bit thicker than your usual PDA phone.
If it becomes a reality, this do-it-all phone will work on quad-band GSM/GPRS, HSDPA, and satellite networks. The promised talktimes don’t seem too bad with up to 5 hours on GSM networks, 3 hours on WCDMA, and 1.3 hours on satellite networks using its 1400mAh battery. It will be able to handle a variety of image, audio, and formats with support for newer video formats like H.264 and H.263 at 30fps.
Cost you ask? If things turn out well, Elektrobit claims that it can deliver this monster at the price of a regular cell phone. All this sounds sweet but the whole concept hinges on the Terrestar Satellite being up and running by 2009, which is when this baby is expected to roll out.
