Nokia Acquires Plum

Nokia has added another company to its roster, acquiring certain assets of Plum Ventures Inc., to complement Nokia’s Social Location Services. Plum has been known to develop and operate cloud-based social media sharing and messaging service, a perfect complement to this arm of Nokia.

Plum has offices located in Boston and San Francisco which should be a wealthy investment. The acquired Plum assets will become part of Nokia’s Services unit.

  • This is really some weird news coming in here about the Palm Pre. It looks like there’s only one Sprint store in New York ready to sell the Pre starting with June 6.

Sprint has apparently marked the stores that will have the Pre by marking them open for “special hours” on June 5. Assuming that online list is accurate then New York, Chicago, LA and San Francisco will have just a store ready to sell the Pre which is really disturbing. Is it all a human error? Everyone is expecting Palm Pre shortages so we expect all Spring stores to have at least a few Pres to go around. We also expect these stores to be open on launch date. Or will we see the Palm Pre available only in selected Sprint stores at first?

Let’s hope that Sprint will handle this launch with class. Apple will be surely watching.

Eligible customers will see the new plans as soon as they log in their accounts. The prices announced in San Francisco where the new plan was tested are still available. And as a bonus you will get $135 credit on your bill for every new customer you bring over to T-Mobile from the competition.

How to Propose the iPhone Way

Bryan Haggerty is a smart guy whom we’ll remember. Maybe not by name but he will always be that guy that proposed with the help of an iPhone application he wrote beforehand. Romantech is the app which basically drove his girlfriend around San Francisco, on a treasure hunt. Following clue after clue and video after video she arrived at the Dolores Park. The map showed the love symbol, <3 and he proposed. So what do you girls think? Is this romantic, or not exactly? How would you like to be asked the question?

If you live or you happen to pass through San Francisco, make sure you go to the Justin Hermann Plaza. That’s where Verizon has setup a special station where you could actually win a BlackBerry Storm. What you have to do is to step inside of a giant plastic box where lots of Verizon business cards are flying through the air. The top 100 people will get a free Storm when it will be officially released. If you’re lucky your city might be next as Verizon is expected to pull off the same stunt in other cities too.

We’re ready to see the G1 arrive in its full splendor. T-Mobile has already pre-sold 1.5 million units already and they’re going to sell even more in the upcoming weeks. The G1 is ready to hit the T-Mobile stores on Wednesday at 8AM. But wait, what’s that I hear? There’s a store in San Francisco which has already started selling the G1. Go to 3rd and Market starting at 6PM PDT. The phones are going to be sold on a first-come-first-served basis. So either you get there hoping you’ll end up with one tonight or go there to start a line for tomorrow morning.
