Sprint just officially announced yesterday that they were gearing up to launch the Samsung Instinct HD on September 27th for $249.99. Now, considering the fact that it is priced so high when compared to the nature of the device you will most likely never get your hands on it.

Thankfully, a YouTube user was nice enough to give us a full hands on preview of the device showcasing features like the preloaded applications (Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, etc) and the location of that HD video out port.

Anyways, check out the video and let us know what you think of it in the comments.

It’s not just the Apple servers going down while people are trying to activate their new 3G iPhone. There must be something wrong with Sprint’s data servers too as far as Instinct owners are concerned.

Apparently more and more buyers have reported having problems with some data services. The Weather application didn’t refresh for more than 18 hours. Email problems and error messages have been also reported by various users.
And let’s not forget this weekend isn’t the perfect one for Sprint data guys to go messing up Sprint’s applications. There’s no point in convincing more people that the iPhone is the better choice is there? And if I am not mistaken, we witnessed a Sprint software update a few weeks ago. Didn’t that take care of most problems?

The hot contender from Samsung to battle the iPhone has proved it isn’t just another touchscreen device after all, as Best Buy has let it out that Instinct has now taken up the mantle as the best selling cell phone to be offered by them in the last two years. Here’s what Shawn Score, President of Best Buy Mobile had to say:

Phones such as the Samsung Instinct from Sprint have helped Best Buy deliver the latest and greatest in technology to our customers

With it’s drop-dead price tag of $129.99 (after $100 mail-in rebate) and premium features like a large touchscreen display, mobile TV, and GPS, Samsung clearly had a leader on its hands even before Sprint claimed it to be the highest-selling EV-DO cell phone on its network. Let’s hope Samsung’s lucky streak continues on with its other touchscreen devices like the Omnia, which looks to be another sensation waiting to happen.

Samsung Instinct Goes to Canada

Samsung Instinct might just prove to be one of the most popular cell phones of 2008. Sure that’s beside the iPhone of course. And let’s not forget the BlackBerry Bold is about to be released with the Samsung Omnia and BlackBerry Thunder around the corner. But still, the Instinct is going to make top of its class. Maybe that’s why Samsung it’s taking it to Canada too.

  • Here’s some good news to the US public. The HTC Touch Diamond and Touch Pro will hit the market soon. Word on the street is that both these two smartphones will be delivered by Sprint and Verizon. How weird is that? Of course this is another rumor waiting to be confirmed. A weird rumor. It’s about time for these two smartphones to hit the US market but I find it strange their arrival on two rival carriers.

Is it me or there’s something fishy in Denmark? I mean in the USA with the Samsung Instinct from Sprint. Is everything ok with the Instinct? Or is Sprint making their bestest everest with this phone? Monday, June 30th they are supposed to launch an Instinct software update. Already? After two weeks of service?

The LG Dare is finally here folks. Just go to your Verizon Wireless store and get it right now. Or maybe wait a couple of days for a similar phone that’s about to come out, you know try it out and then decide if the Dare is really what you need?

This LG comes to $199 for a two year contract. Sounds similar to an AT&T deal across the street? I’m not saying the Dare is a bad phone. Not at all. It’s a great smartphone but it certainly isn’t better than the Samsung Instinct, which supposedly sold almost out just in a few days. And for a way cheaper price. Maybe Verizon missed all that action.

Getting back to the LG Dare, I’ll remind you quickly some of the specs which might convince you to buy it:

    • a proximity sensor,
    • accelerometer
    • Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP,
    • 3.2 megapixel camera,
    • EV-DO Rev A.

I might have believed the Dare was more promising once, but I might have just been a little angry over some missing copy paste action.

After Samsung Instinct arrived people already started to talk about the Samsung Omnia 900. Both are very dependable handsets, both appear to be worthy adversaries to the iPhone or the HTC Touch Diamond. The Omnia i900 was supposed to arrive on June 9th but something else might have happened that day. And it appears that AT&T is going to launch it since they are saying that the Omnia i900 will be officially launched somewhere in Q3 2008.

Well isn’t that convenient? I mean sure, if AT&T is launching it, why do it now when they’re waiting for July 11th? They must be really busy right? Why waste potential iPhone customers on Samsung’s Omnia?

As for the Omnia 900 itself, we’ve heard so much but we’re still waiting for more. We’re supposed to be expecting a Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone with an unconfirmed 3.2 WQVGA touch screen. There’s GSM 850/900/1800/1900 network support, HSDPA at 7.2Mbps, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and TV-out. And there are two versions: 8GB and 16GB. If one is black and the other one white, we’re not going to call it coincidence any more.

Here’s a video of the Omnia i900. That’s the least we can do.

Push email anyone? Touchscreen ultra smartphone with lots of apps? It’s not Apple. It’s Sprint. After officially launching their special priced Samsung Instinct this week, they will continue their fight with Apple’s 3G iPhone. Sprint also launched Sprint Mobile Email Work for anyone interested in accessing their email while on the go, especially their corporate email. And just to spice things up, Sprint is offering this plan to 11 others phones: the Samsung’s A900, A900M and M500, the Motorola’s Razr, Razr 2 and the KRZR, the LG Rumor and Fusic and the Sanyo Katana, Katana II and the 8400.

Sprint Mobile Email Work will allow you to access your Microsoft Exchange Server or Lotus Notes for email. The service is free as long as you have an Everything or Pro Pack data plan. You will simply be able to push email and synchronize the phone and the mailbox.

    Samsung Instinct $129
Remember how a while ago I was comparing the Instinct from Samsung and the iPhone from Apple? Remember how I said that despite the fact the Instinct might be better than the iPhone, the iPhone 2 will kick Instinct’s ass? Boy was I wrong! I was expecting a lot more changes from Apple, and apparently I need to wait for a iPhone 3 one more year or so.

    Samsung Instinct vs iPhone

I’d like to be as objective as possible when comparing any new smartphone with the iPhone. It’s really difficult since I’m a fan of the iPhone. When comparing ‘Insert Name’ with the iPhone I’d go “and the iPhone wins in a second”.

Samsung Instinct is coming via Sprint this June. When? June 20th. Talk about a false start. If I were in charge of Samsung I’d be doing some serious screaming at the marketing department. Why release the Instinct so late after the WWDC 2008? Giving Apple a head start?
