Samsung Electronics is set to officially unveil another mobile phone soon after getting approval for its Samsung SCH-W799. The handset underwent rugged tests and satisfactorily met all conditions set by the FCC and now the only thing left is when it would officially hit the market. A lot of the tests done focused on the electromagnetic emissions of radio frequencies. The only thing clear about the Samsung SCH-W799 for now is that it comes with Bluetooth 2.0 with enhanced data rates and a permanently attached antenna with no provisions for an external one. But expect the official features to come out soon and it should not be surprising if it comes with the usual built-in camera, media players, GPS and other connectivity options as well.

  • Samsung OLED Laptops in 2010

Samsung Electronics may be busy releasing new mobile phones and OLED TVs but if rumors are true, we may yet see another first from them in the form of OLED laptops by 2010. As we all know, OLED technology has been the rave of the people for the past months and should this same technology be used in future laptops under the Samsung brand, you can bet that many techies are going to love it.

Imagine thinner frames, longer battery life and perhaps further reducing the weight of laptops are just some of the things that a Samsung OLED laptop would carry. And considering that they are one of the largest OLED manufacturers in the world, the probability of seeing these new concept laptops from Samsung is not impossible. In a move that will really allow them to expand possibilities and features for the iPhone and the iPod Touch, Apple is reportedly set to manufacture its own microchips, a strategy shift that the company hopes will create exclusive features for its gadgets and shield Apple’s work from rivals.

The iPhone now uses chips from a variety of suppliers including Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, Broadcom Corp, Marvell Technology Inc, CSR Plc and Infineon Technologies AG, analysts say. If Apple succeeds in coming up with its own chip, it could potentially dislodge at least one of these companies from the iPhone, while sending notice of its intent to take an even bigger role in the creation of its products.

Apple could use the internally developed chips to sharply reduce the power consumption of its hit iPhone and iPod touch devices, and possibly add graphics circuitry to help its hardware play realistic game software and high-definition videos.
