Verizon has apparently decided to drop most smartphone prices down to only $99 when customers choose a new two-year agreement thus matching that AT&T $99 iPhone pricing. That means phones like the HTC Touch Pro, the BlackBerry Storm and many others will now be available for $99 with new contracts. The BlackBerry Tour and the Samsung Saga will still cost more than $99 and the upcoming Touch Pro2 and Storm 2 are definitely going to be a little more expensive too when Verizon will officially launch them. What $99 smartphone are you going to choose?

After releasing a much needed firmware update to unlock GPS on the HTC Touch Pro, Verizon has decided that a new phone is worthy for such a similar honor. The carrier has launched an updated ROM for the Samsung Saga and now the GPS has been unlocked for the Saga too. So if you own a Samsung Saga and you’re always interested in GPS features and applications than you can go to Verizon Wireless and get yourself that new piece of software. In the mean time all those Samsung Omnia owners are still waiting for a similar update. Verizon, we’re watching you!
