All The Latest Cell Phone, Gadget and Tech News

HTC has grown a lot lately and the company seems also interested in the large American cell phone market. Therefore it has created a version of the HTC S740 ready to be launched in the U.S. as soon as a carrier will pick it up. The phone has support now for 850MHz/1900MHz HSDPA bands and so far it will arrive from various resellers as no carrier has announced it yet. You might find the phone at Dell, CDW, Best Buy and other locations. Look for the S740 in Q1 and have ready at least $450-$550. That’s probably how much the handset will cost if no carrier decides to offer it at a subsidized price.

The HTC S740 was first mentioned 3 months ago, on September, and at that time it would only be released in Europe at unknown carriers for an unknown price. The good news is that the handset is now available at Orange Business site, but sadly it still doesn’t have a price tag.

In case you don’t remember, the HTC S740 cellphone is a real beast that comes with a sliding QWERTY keyboard so typing becomes easier and faster, Wi-Fi for the internet sessions, 3G, HSDPA, GPS, bluetooth, and a 3-megapixel camera. The LCD display screen measures 2.4-inches, and its battery can last for 300 minutes in talk-time, or up to 400 hours in stand-by.

If for some wierd reason, you wanted a Touch Pro without its touchscreen feature, you might want to take a gander at HTC’s latest S740 model. The S740 sticks close to the Touch Diamond’s glossy design, right down to its sleek front facade and the diamond pattern on its back. All the specs are identical exception for the omission of a touchscreen which is compensated with the usual 12-key numeric keypad. The touchless 2.4-inch display, reduced from the 2.8-inch VGA screen that everybody loves on the Touch Diamond, is satisfied with QVGA resolution, and other goodies like HSDPA support, aGPS, Bluetooth, microSD support, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, FM radio, and a slide-out QWERTY keypad seems included along with Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard.

The HTC S740 will be available starting this month in Europe at an undisclosed price.
