Sprint Debuts Samsung S30

The Samsung S30 can now be purchased from Sprint at $450 but drops to $130 if the buyer would get it along with a two-year agreement and $100 mail-in rebate. This consumer-oriented smartphone offers a touchscreen, GPS, and wireless broadband.

The original Samsung Instinct was launched last year to be Sprint’s answer to the iPhone, but its marginal web browser hurt its ability to compete against Apple’s smartphone. The new s30 offers an improved web-browsing experience thanks to Opera Mini 4.2.

Sprint has tried to strike a balance between consumer and business functions. This model is able to synchronize with a Microsoft Exchange server for corporate email and calendar data, but also includes the popular games “Guitar Hero - World Tour” and “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader,” access to Sprint TV and Sprint Music, and connections to social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace, and YouTube.

Samsung built multimedia support into this device, including an MP3 and video player and a microSD card slot for storing up to 16 GB of songs and movies. A 2.0 MPx camera with video support is also included.

  • Samsung Instinct S30 is definitely a great phone and now it’s even more affordable than before. Best Buy Mobile is ready to sell you the smaller Instinct for just $49.99 which is a price which fits well with the current economy state. You will still have to get a contract but the handset is $80 cheaper than what Sprint is going to charge for it starting with this Sunday. Will you get one?

    New Samsung Instinct S30 Revealed

A new Instinct is coming from Samsung, the S30 which is a compact version of the initial phone. In case you are wondering, the phone in the picture here is the Instinct Mini, a handset we have talked about in the past. The phone hasn’t been officially unveiled yet but Samsung has conveniently slipped the picture above. Samsung is probably anxious to release it since the Pre and the new iPhone are coming this summer. Are we to expect it to arrive from Sprint like its bigger brother? Should we count on a release real soon?

The important details of a release date and a price tag, the only things we didn’t know about the Samsung Instinct Mini or the S30 or the M810 have become known at last!  Thanks to some curious Joe and his handy camera, we now have information that the M810 is going to be released this coming month on April 15 through Brightpoint and will be available in choices of Graphite and Bronze colors from Sprint.  The price tag is not as small as the handset and it will sell for a cool $450, but if we are getting the same goodness the original Instinct had to offer, you won’t catch us complaining!

Seems like Samsung has thought better and instead of belittling its own best-selling device, it has decided to simply name Instinct’s upcoming little brother as the S30, which recently passed through the FCC scanner when we knew it as the Instinct Mini.  But other than the name, Samsung will be making no major changes in the feature set.  So, we wouldn’t be surprised if we found a 2-megapixel cam, microSD/microSDHC support, a music player, a somewhat downsized touchscreen display, and CDMA with EV-DO support on the network side when it is announced officially.  The whole package also goes for more rounded edges with the lower part becoming a bit more thicker than the Samsung Instinct.

There is still no word on pricing or availability, so stay tuned and we’ll keep you updated.

    Navman S30 3D Sat-Nav

Navman is one of the pioneers in personal satellite navigation. Navman’s most recent device is a 3D landmark model system, the S30 3D Sat-Nav. Instead of just putting up icons to illustrate points of interest, this uses realistic 3D representations of landmarks, to help you figure out where you are. The 3D system has been brought out across a couple of Navman’s S-series models.

The S30 has a 3.5in touchscreen TFT with a 320 x 240 resolution which is clear and easy to read even in sunny conditions, despite its small size. The touchscreen feature is pretty cool as it speaks the characters as you type it. You can set up a multi-point route that can be saved as favourites for future use. Choosing to avoid a traffic jam you (more…)
