Since LG is one of the sponsors of Formula 1 they have a promotion in Russia that is pretty simple: buy a LG GB230 and you have the chance to win a free visit to the F1 race in the UAE during 30 October and 1 November. It seems like a pretty good deal taking in consideration that the price tag of the phone is $155.
As for the technical specifications, the LG GB230 can be considered a normal phone with basic features: 2-megapixel camera for videos and photos, a microSD memory card slot with maximum capacity of 4GB, bluetooth, and a 2-inch display screen. You can listen to radio without the need of using headphones which is a bonus.

We have one more Samsung handset for you and this one has been officially launched in Russia. The S3500 is an entry level phone which will remind you of that Soul U900 from Samsung. The phone will be available for around $210 and it should hit other European markets soon. And here’s what we can expect from it:
Not the smartphone that you were looking for, but still a handset to consider if you don’t need all those smartphone features.

Samsung has a new phone ready to be launched and it looks like Russia is the market it will head to. The Samsung S5600 is the handset we’re talking about, but we don’t have any of its specs yet. The phone will come in a plastic case and it will use that TouchWiz UI from Samsung. We don’t know when the S5600 will arrive and how much it will cost, but we expect it to have a fairly cheap price as it is probably going to be a mid-level handset.

We have a new phone perfect for Valentine’s Day, the F480 La Fleur edition. The La Fleur special edition F480 comes in purple, pink and brown with floral patterns on top. You can pretty much expect the same F480 features underneath all those flowers. The phone will be available in Russia for now and possibly in some other European countries. No news on the price yet.

That’s right boys and girls, the phone in the picture is a Sony Ericsson F305 and it has that famous Hello Kitty painted all over it. Besides the white and pink case we don’t know yet what other modifications this Hello Kitty Edition F305 might bring you, but it would be fun if it came with some Hello Kitty preloaded content.
The Hello Kitty F305 is headed to Russia but we don’t know how much it will retail for. Other markets might get it too, so better ask around, maybe your carrier is going to bring it to you.

U121 is the codename of the new Huawei cellphone which was released in Russia, call it the big brother of the U1215 if you’d like.
Made of stainless steel among other materials, the U121 comes with a 1.3-megapixel camera which can support video calls, a slot for microSD memory cards, and also a miniUSB port. In the multimedia department there are three main details, those being a 3.5mm headphone jack, and the two sound providers: FM radio + playback of audio and video files. Needless to say this is a 3G cellphone sporting a basic look, and for now it can only be purchased in Russia.

I’m actually really interested in getting my hands on that first Nokia touchscreen phone but in the mean time, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will hit Russia first. The phone will be available starting December 5th and it will cost about $550. That’s an odd decision from Nokia. I mean sure Russia is big and it will get them lots of customers but what about the rest of the world? When are we going to get it? I demand answers!

Apple seems confident it will sell about 3.5 million iPhones in Russia and it has finally reached an agreement with Mobile TeleSystems, Russia’s largest carrier to sell the handset starting October. According to previous rumors we were expecting the iPhone 3G to enter the Russian market only in 2009.
Besides MTS, Vimpelcom and MegaFon are also considered by Apple to sell the iPhone. Currently more than 600,000 iPhones are being used unofficially in Russia and more are going to be sold by the time Apple will start to ship handsets to the country.
Russian carriers are expected to buy the iPhone for $399 from Apple and sell it for about $990. Quite a price! Not the usual affordable price Apple has been promoting but cheaper than any unlocked iPhone brought over from abroad.

A couple of weeks ago we were telling you how Russia is more likely to get the official iPhone 3G sometime in 2009. Nothing spectacular about that. Russians are busy with the Georgian conflict anyhow right now.t
If we are to believe recent rumors, two carriers are already in deep negotiation with Apple in order to get the iPhone deal. OAO VimpelCom and OAO MegaFon which are Russia’s second and third biggest mobile opperators are the companies we are talking about. Apple wants to deploy between 1 and 1.5 million iPhones to be deployed with each of them according to undisclosed sources from both companies.

Let’s see, we were told at the WWDC that the iPhone is coming by the end of the year in about 70 countries with more to be added up. As a followup to the much likable P6 we talked about last year, the P7 has several improvements but also stays a step behind when it comes to innovation. While its a good thing that the processor is bumped to Marvell PXA270 416 MHz from the 300 MHz found on the P6 with more real estate added in the form of a 2.8 inch touchscreen, it is sad to see that this lovely-looking cell phone is content with just GPRS/EDGE data support with no 3G. Otherwise, the specs are decent enough with WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, miniUSB, microSD, and a 2-megapixel camera, all running on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional.
No price or availability accompanies these details, but we would expect this to land in Russia or thereabouts in the not so distant future.
