We are used to Sony Ericsson parading its cell phones all over the world before bestowing them on the States, but as they say, better late than never, right? This version called the W760a (a for American) just got the thumbs up from the FCC and from that tiny globe that Cellphone Signal kindly points out for us, it looks like on this new member of the Walkman lineup is headed straight for AT&T on a jetpack. Anyway, if it does get released, Americans will soon be able to enjoy that famous Walkman interface, GPS, motion sensor, and worldwide triband HSDPA support with a 3.2 megapixel camera to boot. Sounds good enough for a feature phone, I know, but don’t uncross those fingers until something official comes up.

Remember that low-res video clip we got you back in May about a mysterious Sony Ericsson device with PSP-like icons? Well, Se-nse was able to get their hands on a better-looking video and this ain’t the PSP phone that we have been speculating about for some time. What we can glean from the picture is that this mysterious device has a two-way mechanism like the N95; sliding down will give users access to multimedia controls and sliding up makes way for the camera. There also seems to be a third slide-out function hiding a QWERTY keypad underneath. Pretty cool design if you ask me, but we will still take this with a generous pinch of salt until Sony Ericsson decides to come out in the open about its choice between the evasive PSP phone and this touchscreen monster. Head here if you care to watch the original video.

While Nokia has a strong foothold the world over, it is yet to make its mark on North American soil. Not that it is trying but if you think about Nokia’s success elsewhere, it’s mostly because of its ability to cater to the masses, not just concentrating on high-end smartphones but pushing out some really functional yet affordable cell phones. The Nokia 2600 is one such device that could turn Nokia’s luck around in NAM and if the little birdies are right, we might see it take its place in AT&T lineup pretty soon. According to the rumor, the Nokia 2600 might be available as a prepaid cell phone soon on AT&T. With basic features like a VGA camera, dual-band GSM (1900/850) support, and FM radio, we might venture a guess that the Nokia 2600 will be a pretty affordable offering from Nokia. As always, we’ll keep you posted when the release date and price emerge.

More a mystery than a leak, we really don’t know much about this device other than what we presume is its codename “Rose.” May be HTC knows how to run a tight ship unlike Sony Ericsson and its constant slip-ups. Whether this points to the fabled Android-powered device or another Windows Mobile 6.1 push-over is anybody’s guess right now. The only thing certain looks to be its availability almost everywhere when and if it does get released. But now that Bluetooth SIG has given up a name, it won’t be long before our sniffers get to the bottom of this flowery conundrum!

A new rumor is circling the web. Apparently Apple has started to prepare for new Mac laptops which are supposed to be launched in the near future. A report in the Commerical Times showed an order for MacBook displays in the Q3 a while back ago while now the paper is reporting that Apple has increased by 20% this quarter its order of notebook-use printed circuit boards.

This one made its first unofficial appearance exactly a month back hanging out with the likes of 5800 XpressMusic and the N79, but it looks like Nokia is having a tough time like Sony Ericsson with plugging holes and controlling leaks. Although this doesn’t cement anything about the N85, the rumored specs point to a positioning between the lovely N95 and the upcoming N96. From what we know at this point, it will be a dual-slider with a 5-megapixel camera, 3G support, GPS with geotagging, and S60 Third Edition FP2. These new pictures still reveal the model name as N00, so lot’s more development to go in before it’s worthy enough to get the N85 number. Read on for more pictures.

Is this another human error like the WiFi teaser from AT&T? We showed you last week an official page screenshot addressing the Starbucks free WiFi thing. That was apparently a mistake from their part although they have reassured us the service is coming sometime soon.
So with all this commotion about the new 3G iPhone. It’s here and there, it’s going to be released in June or sooner. It’s going to replace the depleted stocks of the first generation iPhone. Will it be in black after all? Does AT&T know something we don’t? Is that page a beta page? Shouldn’t we, as future consumers have seen that yet? Is it just a joke or a rumor?

Wanna order a coffee from Starbucks? How about doing it through your iPhone? Pretty cool huh? Well, Apple might pick up on this as multimedia designer Phil Lu, has created some mockups of an iPhone application that he calls “QuickOrder”.
As I’ve said, Apple might pick up on this mockup as these designs came out before the publicized patent application that Apple applied that deals with ordering stuff through the iPhone.

It seems specs of new Nokia phones have leaked online. We’ll leave deciding if the rumors are real up to you but so far, here are what came out. Two successors to existing phones have been revealed — the Nokia E71 (successor to E61i) and the Nokia E66 (successor to E65). Both are wi-fi capable with GPS. They will also be smaller compared to their predecessors and both will sport 3 megapixel cameras.
On the other hand, some more specs of the Nokia N96 had leaked. N96 will have 16GB memory the first half internal and the other via memory card. It also seems we’re looking at an April or May release.

After the spotting of the Dell XPS m1330 a couple of months ago, the folks over the Engadget report the sighting of another Dell, this time the Dell XPS M1730. The XPS M1730, an apparent heir to the M1710, features a large 17″ display and the info being passed around Dell’s Round Rock, Texas headquarters indicate that the M1730 will be nothing less than a beast underneath, packing a punch with an Intel Core 2 Extreme X7800 mobile processor. The X7800, if you missed out, is targeted at gaming/video editing and other CPU intensive applications.
Starting models will come with a 256MB Nvidia GeForce 8600 GS card and go up to a 512MB GeForce 8700M GT. System memory will be topped at 4GB (although you can’t really see all of it in Windows XP and certain versions of Windows Vista), and you will also have Bluetooth 2.0 on your hands for your wireless/mobile/PDA needs.
No word on the pricing, but it may be coming out of the Dell labs on August 27, 2007.
