All The Latest Cell Phone, Gadget and Tech News

Okay so maybe the following handsets are not the all the phones Rogers Wireless will launch this summer but they will surely be among the most popular: the LG Rumor 2, Sony Ericsson C905 and Xperia X1, HTC Dream and Magic and the new iPhone. Here they are:

  • LG Rumor 2 (Solo Mobile) — ETA: May 25th, outright: $160.00, 2-year contract: $75.00
  • Sony Ericsson C905 — ETA: May 19th (delayed), outright: $449.99, 3-year contract: $249.99 ($299.99 without Rogers Vision)
  • HTC Dream — ETA: June 2nd (limited quantity, availability will increase by June 12th), outright: $649.99, 3-year contract: $199.99
  • HTC Magic — ETA: June 2nd, outright: $649.99, 3-year contract: $199.99
  • Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 — ETA: June 30th (barring additional delays), outright: TBD ($649 - $749), 3-year: $299.99 (will launch at $249.99)
  • iPhone — ETA: unknown (July/August), outright: not allowed, 3-year: TBD

Unfortunately there’s no clear indication as when will the new iPhone arrive. Rogers will probably launch it around the same time the AT&T will for a similar price. What phone would you choose?

As we said before the LG Rumor 2 is available starting today from Sprint stores. The phone costs $49.99 after an instant savings of $150 and a $50 mail-in rebate but you’re going to have to get a new 2-year agreement.

Besides the LG Rumor 2, Sprint has a new Motorola too. The Stature i9 is available starting today and it’s totally compatible with the Nextel Direct Connect service. The phone costs $199.99 after an instant savings of $150 and a $50 mail-in rebate. You’ll have to get a new 2-year contract to go with this one too.

  • LG Banter Available from Alltel

Remember that LG Rumor 2 that Sprint announced it will be available in a few days? Well Alltel has just beaten that offer. Verizon’s little brother has decided to offer its own version of the Rumor 2, but they call it the Banter.

The Banter is the Rumor 2 and it’s up on Alltel’s website. There’s no price yet but we assume Alltel will match Sprint’s offer. So which one would you choose? The Banter or the Rumor 2?

The Rumor 2 has an official date. Sprint will start selling this LG handset on March 15. It will cost you $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and with a new two-year agreement. And here’s a quick reminder of what you can expect from the LG Rumor 2:

    • QVGA display
    • 1.3 megapixel camera
    • GPS
    • stereo Bluetooth
    • microSDHC support (up to 16GB)
    • colors: Black Titanium and Vibrant Blue

Unfortunately the phone is coming to ntSpri stores only on April 19th. I know I just said March 15 but you’ll have to call 1-800-Sprint-1 or go to Sprint.com to get the Black Titanium version. The Vibrant Blue will be available after March 29 from the same sources.

  • LG Rumor 2 to Come from Sprint?

The slider in the picture is LG’s Rumor 2 which looks like it’s ready to arrive from Sprint. The leaked image above looks clearer than regular leaked images and it shows a clear Sprint logo on it which may have been very well pasted over the initial picture. We’re still lacking the official specs but they should arrive shortly as Sprint intends to launch it this spring.

  • Sprint will be offering its customers quite a few cell phones during the following months and I am not talking about the Pre only. So let’s see what the rumors say, shall we?

The Palm Treo Pro will launch around March 15. Yes, that’s right, the phone has been delayed again so we’re not sure what will happen with it. The Rumor 2 from LG is scheduled to be available in black and blue starting with the middle of March. The LG LX370 slider should arrive in April or May. The Samsung Instinct Mini is a smaller, slimmer Instinct which Sprint will launch on April 19. What’s the matter Samsung, did you buy into all that iPhone nano rumors and created a nano Instinct? The HTC Cedar is a QWERTY candybar phone which will arrive sometime in June. But we’re all going to be craving for a Palm Pre from Sprint, no matter how interesting some of the devices I have already mentioned are.
