It seems that the phone we saw pictured yesterday entitled the Motorola Barrage has been made official today for Verizon by way of a leaked spec sheet, pictured above.
As you can see, this sheet gives not only the handset’s specs (which we already knew about) but also the pricing and release date for the phone. According to said sheet, the Motorola Barrage will be made available in Verizon retail stores on November 16th, 2009 for $179.99 on a 2-year contract.
You amy be asking yourself how could anyone charge such a price for a flip phone and the answer is becasue of the materials that were used to make its ultra “rugged durable design”.

Well, e device still hasn’t found a phone but it is available now, unlocked, for purchase in the US at $400. Don’t expect to many features out of this phone as it’s not a high-end smart phone or anything of the sort, but it does include a 3MP camera, GPS, Bluetooth
Did I mention it could hold up against even the brutal of beatings?

Nokia has officially announced the 3720 Classic. As we have already seen last week this phone can handle quite a lot. It is waterproof, dustproof and shock resistant. The 3720 is made of very durable materials and the interior is sealed tight so nothing can interfere with the electronics inside.
Markku Suomi, vice president, Connect devices said:
Whether using it at the beach or in a dusty construction site, the Nokia 3720 classic has been specifically engineered to withstand the splashes, bumps and drops that come with the terrain. While the Nokia 3720 classic is tough on the outside, it is equally functional on the inside - a perfect choice for people who want a long-lasting and reliable mobile phone for any environment.
The phone will come with less than remarkable features like a 2.2-inch display, a 2-megapixel camera, a 1GB microSD card, preloaded Nokia Maps, a long-lasting battery and a LED flashlight. But then again this phone is made to withstand outrageous conditions so smartphone-like features will not be found in the 3720 Classic.
The phone will be available for around $175 when it will begin shipping this summer. That’s the full, unsubsidized price so you will probably get it for a lot less.

If it was sturdy before, it’s sturdy and stylish (somewhat) now. Sprint has now launched the i580 clamshell in bright yellow and we know yellow isn’t exactly a favorite with most people, but the idea is for it be “highly visible” and not easy to lose. Other than the new dip in yellow dye, the i580 retains its toughness and you will find the same Military Standard 810F resistance to shock, dust, vibration, solar radiation, rain, salt fog, and extreme barometric variations. The phone supports push to talk and has a 1.9-inch internal display with a much smaller external screen for various alerts, GPS, Bluetooth, support for microSD expansion, a 1.3-megapixel camera, and up to 200 minutes of talktime on a 1130 mAh battery.

With phones like these two Motorola will slowly disappear from the face of the cellphones business. Sure we need rugged phones but they could always look better than these two. The MC5590 and the MC5574 have been just announced by Motorola. They are business-oriented smartphones. But where would you have to work in order to get such a device? The North Pole? Are the phones made for those busy elves? The phones are going to arrive in Q2 so we might have an answer to those questions by then. No pricing details for now, but would you really buy any of those? And by the way, where are all those hot Moto phones we’ve seen back in December?

The phone in the picture here is a Windows Mobile rugged phone, the i-mate 810-F which will be released at this year’s MWC 2009. The 810-F might not be the smartphone you were looking for but it will certainly be a very reliable phone. Here are the main features of the i-mate-810-F.
i-mate will probably release pricing details and arrival dates next week as it’s the only phone to be released by the company in Spain.

Sonim XP3 is the latest cellphone on the rugged category to be announced on the US. By rugged phone I mean one that is waterproof, can work in very cold (or hot) temperatures, and can resist hard impacts.
With an expected release date set for March 2009, the XP3 is a GSM device with quad-band EDGE support, and a screen display that is resistant to glare and provides a resolution of 160×128 pixels. Other goodies on the Sonim cellphone include GPS, bluetooth, 3-megapixel camera, and bluetooth.

As with the G’zOne Type-S, the G’zOne Boulder push-to-talk phone is also built to meet 810F military standards. That means you can drown it, drop it, freeze it, heat it, and expose it to solar radiation and the G’zOne Boulder will put up a serious fight and come out unscathed. The push-to-talk two-way communication should come pretty easy too with support for Verizon’s EV-DO Rev.A high-speed network and a special application called the Field Force Manager will let businesses monitor and communicate with mobile field workers. The onboard VZ Navigator provides turn-by-turn directions with audio cues and up to 14 million POIs, while the VCAST Music lets the workers have some fun with direct downloads of DRM-free music to the phone via Rhapsody, which can be stored on microSD cards of up to 8GB. A 1.3-megapixel camera is also an option left open to the customers interested.
The G’zOne Boulder is available online in colors of black/orange or silver/orange at just $129.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a two-year agreement on Verizon.
