Someone at Microsoft’s Muscle-Computer Interface used an electromyograph attached to their forearm to create an Air Guitar Hero. Just to let you know, this wasn’t part of a study to create an axe-less Guitar Hero/Rock Band.
This is actually Microsoft’s experiment to create devices that can use the user’s fingers and other actions without having a device itself. The video above really says it all.

Sure, Rock Band is one of the most popular video games ever, and I suppose it just has to be made into an iPhone app. Of course, it doesn’t have all the cool instruments as the version for the console, but what do you expect, it’s made for the mobile.
The drums and guitar are played with the user’s thumbs on the pads seen in the photo. As for singing, it is really a series of taps rather than actually singing into a microphone. You might say that this type of gameplay is not like Rockband at all, and you’d be right. However, if you are looking for a way to pass some time on a bus, do you really want everyone around you to hear you sing?
The RockBand app is available for $10 at the iTunes store, with $1 for every new song.
