All The Latest Cell Phone, Gadget and Tech News

For those of you who didn’t know, Nokia has an in-house operating system that currently co-exists with their more talked about Symbian; Maemo. You may recognize the name as Nokia currently ships a few internet tablets, namely the Nokia 770, N800 and N810, that run the Maemo OS. However, unlike Android, the operating system hasn’t strayed far from it’s developer.

Well today, Optima is proud to announce that they will be the first to bring a non-Nokia branded device, entitled the OP5-E, to market running Maemo. This device features a 4.3-inch resistive touch screen, 806MHz processor, 128MB RAM/256 MB ROM, a microSDHC slot, GPS, EV-DO, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, 3.2MP camera and a 2600 mAh battery.

While it’s not currently a phone, despite featuring a design closely resembling the iPhone, the OP5-E is said to be gaining phone and SMS at some point in the future.
