Today, CrackBerry has gotten their hands on the above pictures of what they are saying is the official BlackBerry watch possibly called the inPulse. This device was apparently manufactured out of house for RIM and features an OLED screen.
We’ll have to wait until more information is made known regarding this device.

Research in Motion (RIM) has been making great strides through the years with its different smartphones despite the stiff competition that Apple via its iPhone is giving. And from the looks of it, the new battle plan will fall in the hands of two people with contrasting personalities. The two people who will be in the limelight are Canadian CEOs, Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazardis.
It is believed that two heads are better than one. But that is perhaps the interesting thing about these two; they have so many differences that the eventual beneficiary will be RIM in its efforts to boost the marketability of the Blackberry smartphones.
The strategy for growth by RIM is called “constructive management” as shared by Mr. Balsillie. One of the highlights of this strategy included outsourcing mobile phone manufacturing rather than make them independently. They partner with outsourced companies to do it for them thus resulting in less overheads and flexible options as far as getting various versions of their handsets.
Also, there are the usual targeted products for specific groups of customers. For most smartphone-crazy individuals, a certain mobile phone with features and specifications in mind exists. A clear example here is the social media market who look for easier means to use their smartphones with various social networking sites.
Finally there is the need to serve the global target market. It is no secret that aiming for a global market is the way to go if you really want to succeed. And for RIM, the smartphone demand has gone way beyond the borders of the United States. The regions are endless. It can be seen that Asian and European countries have shown promising opportunities as far as mobile phone requirements are concerned.
With two great minds at the helm of RIM, implement these strategies can only promise brighter days ahead for RIM. Apple may be there to dominate but don’t be surprised if RIM through its Blackberry phones suddenly breathe down their necks.

RIM has today announced that users can now browse the BlackBerry App World from virtually any internet connected computer. While this doesn’t really serve any purpose other than to give people a look at what’s featured in the BlackBerry App World, it’s a welcome addition.
However, RIM does throw in the ability to email an app’s download link to your BlackBerry where you can then download the software, but that’s about as deep as integration goes.
Check out the BlackBerry App World here.

When the first iPhone came out, consumers were generally stunned at the touchscreen’s ease of use which could be attributed to the fact that the device features a capacitive screen. However, while that ease of use was made possible, the use of a stylus was made impossible.
Luckily, RIM has recently filed a patent for a hybrid capacitive/resistive touchscreen that will allow users easy finger control while still being able to use a stylus. This means you will be able to write things on the screen with much greater accurarcy in a future BlackBerry model given this patent goes through.

RIM has today announced that version 1.1.0.11 of their BlackBerry App World software is now available for download.
The key feature of this update is the ability to archive apps which means you will be able to save them to the device’s internal storage or an added memory card. You won’t be able to run apps right off the memory card instead only save them for later installation.

It seems that the patent dispute between Visto and Research in Motion has finally come to an end. This is the same patent dispute that has been going on for years but it looks that RIM’s lawyers have found a middle point.
Research in Motion will reportedly pay $276.5 million to bring the lenghty law suit to an end. However, RIM didn’t come out completely empty handed as they have netted themselves a license to use the patents in question along with “some of the plantiff’s intellectual property by way of transferred ownership”.
At least Visto didn’t accuse RIM of conspiring with the Mafia like this troubled man.

BT will plan to integrate the BlackBerry Mobile Voice System (MVS) technology from Research In Motion (RIM) with BT Communications Complete (based on the Cisco Unified Communications 500 Series platform). This new offering will allow BlackBerry smartphone users to take advantage of Wi-Fi networks in the office for voice calls. This solution would enable users to switch from Wi-Fi to cellular networks thus allowing small to medium-sized business to reduce mobile airtime costs.
Business users will be able to utilize the out-of-the-office conveniences of their BlackBerry smartphone such as access to calls, contacts, access and email anywhere when they are in the office, but without the typically higher mobile airtime costs. “The solution will enable the delivery of unified communications tools for small to medium-sized businesses, which previously only benefited larger firms,” said Bill Murphy, managing director, BT Business. “Technologies that better integrate key business processes, reduce costs and keep workers in touch with customers regardless of location, help firms to operate more effectively and to be in better shape for the upturn when it comes.”

Having been initially announced some time ago the Blackberry Pearl Flip 8220 successful made an appearance on carriers such as T-Mobile and Rogers but other carriers were effectively left in the dark.
Luckily, Verizon Wireless has released a statement saying that the Blackberry Pearl Flip 8230 will be available from them on June 19th for $129.99 after a 2-year contract and $70 rebate. If you aren’t familiar with the Pearl Flip it is essentially a Blackberry Pearl in a flip form factor with RIM marketing the phone to prevent “making calls with your butt”.
Anyways, the 8230 will be running RIM’s 4.6.0 operating system on a 324MHz processor, external and internal displays, 2MP camera complete with flash, GPS, and a SureType keypad. As for me? I’ll settle with a Blackberry Bold.

Fractus is a Spanish company which you haven’t really gotten to know so far. Now it’s time for it’s moment of glory! Fractus has decided to sue not one, not two, but ten mobile phone manufacturers which apparently have infringed not one, not two, but nine different patents which concern internal antennas.
These manufacturers are: Samsung, LG Electronics, Research In Motion, HTC, Palm, Pantech, Sharp, Kyocera, Sanyo and UTStarcom. And Fractus is a company which holds more than 80 patents worldwide, 30 of them right in the United States. The suit was filed in the USA and we’ll just have to wait and see what happens next. Fractus’s lawyer said:
