It was recently announced that the Opera 10 release candidate is now available for download. If you’re a fan of the Opera web browser and want to give the latest version a try you won’t want to miss this release.

Below Opera comments on some of the features found in version 10’s RC:

Opera 10 features Opera Turbo, the new bandwidth-booster for slow Internet connections. It also features a significantly improved Opera Mail, Opera’s built-in e-mail client. Tabbed browsing enters the next phase of its evolution with resizeable [sic], thumbnail tabs. The upgrade of Opera’s Speed Dial now gives users a chance to personalize their favorite online destinations and the overall look and feel of their start page.

It was also made known that the official Opera 10 release will be on September 1st.

Microsoft has just sent out a friendly reminder that those currently running the Windows 7 beta or are looking to get their hands on the RC, better act fast.

Starting on July 1st the Windows 7 beta that was released some time ago will begin rebooting ever 2 hours and on August 1st be rendered completely useless. The RC on the other hand will work until the operating system’s official release.

So again, if you’re running the Windows 7 beta, switch to the RC, and if you haven’t downloaded the RC yet and want to, do it now.

It seems that Mozilla has gone ahead and released a release candidate to beta users for Firefox 3.5 despite any prior announcement.

Some features found in the update (which Mozilla says totals 5,000) include build-in video, a private browsing mode, geolocation to provide certain websites with the user’s location and finally the faster loading of pages including JavaScript programs.

Those brave souls who want to dive head first into the update before its officially released later this month can grab the release candidate here.

While public availability will be staggered to May 5, the much-awaited Windows 7 release candidate will be available first to developers on the Microsoft Developers’ Network by the end of this month on April 30.  The news was announced by Microsoft’s Brandon LeBlanc on the Windows Team Blog recently and he had this to say:

There certainly has been a lot of discussion about Windows 7 in the last few weeks. A lot of folks want to know when they can get their hands on the official RC, when we are going to RTM, and what I had for breakfast.  I’m pleased to share that the RC is on track for April 30th for  download by MSDN and TechNet subscribers. Broader, public availability will begin on May 5th.

We will keep you posted when the Windows 7 RC is ready for download, so stay tuned

Windows RC to Arrive on May 5th?

Is Windows 7 ready to be launched? Microsoft’s Partner Program website says that Windows 7 Release Candidate will arrive on May 5th. If that’s not a human error then you might indeed be able to get the RC release earlier than you were expecting. The final version is still scheduled for late 2009 or even early 2010 but by then you might be able to run the RC and test it out. Here’s what the Microsoft’s Partner Program says:

As the next-generation operating system from Microsoft, Windows 7 opens new development, sales, and services opportunities for your business. With Windows 7, you can offer your customers a robust foundation for high-quality experiences across applications, services, PCs, and devices. We are pleased to announce that Windows 7 Release Candidate (RC) is available. Windows 7 RC is the prerelease version of Windows 7. Since this is not the final release, your PC will gather and send information to Microsoft engineers to help them check the fixes and changes made based on testing of Windows 7 Beta. Test-drive Windows 7 RC today to see for yourself—and to show your colleagues and customers—how Windows 7 delivers improved management, security, reliability, and performance. Download Windows 7 RC Partners: If you have a subscription to MSDN or TechNet, you can download Windows 7 RC now. Otherwise, you can download Windows 7 RC starting May 5, 2009.

Windows 7 this September?

Sure Windows Mobile 7 is coming in 2010, but what about it’s big brother, Windows 7?

Well, if a PC contractor, who works with HP, Acer, and other big names, is to be believed, we may be seeing the next version of Windows this September.

With the Windows 7 release candidate just around the corner, this is a completely plausible rumor. But, seeing as it is a rumor, please take it with a grain of salt for the time being.
