Sprint will launch a new Samsung phone, the Exclaim M550, which is the successor of the Rant. You can expect both an QWERTY keyboard and a keypad ready to meet your texting needs. And both keypads are sliding out which is quite a neat trick. Other features include:

  • A 2.6 QVGA display
  • EV-DO Rev. 0 connectivity
  • Social networking applications
  • GPS
  • 2MP camera
  • Memory expansion slot, up to 32GB

The phone should be available starting with June 7 for an undetermined price. We’ll be back with those price tags as soon as Sprint announces them.

There’s nothing wrong with a little insane competition in the mobile world. Take Samsung for example. Instead on working round the clock to make better and better handsets it has decided to set the world record for fastest texting while skydiving.

Ten skydivers have been equipped with various handset like the Propel, Alias, Gravity, Rant or Messenger. Everyone took two jumps and everyone landed safely each time. The Guinness team has yet to establish if the record has been set, and once we’ve settled that whole thing the Samsung team should get back to work.

  • Samsung Has a New Rant Phone

Samsung has a phone ready for this October called the Samsung Rant. The Rant will be an entry level phone which will let you pay the next rent. You know, just so you won’t have to rant to your friends about buying another expensive handset which you don’t exactly need.

The phone will cost just $49.99 with a 2 years contract from Sprint and after a $50 mail-in rebate. The Rant is a slider handset with a full QWERTY keyboard, a 2 megapixel camera with video recording capability, Bluetooth, a memory card slot and it comes in red or black. There’s access to Sprint Navigation and Sprint Music Store. Sprint TV is also available and there’s speaker-independent voice recognition if you need some.

We’ll know more when it hits the market. But here’s a quick tip, Best Buy customers will get the Rant in purple, so you might check with them for more info on the handset.
