All The Latest Cell Phone, Gadget and Tech News

Back in February we got our hands on some leaked promotional shots of the Motorola i465. Well, both Motorola and Nextel have come forth and confirmed the phone’s existence and stating it will be on the Nextel iDEN network sometime soon.

If you don’t know what iDEN is, it’s Nextel’s Push-to-Talk walkie-talkie like service that sets the company apart from the rest.

The i465’s QWERTY keyboard coupled with the Push-to-Talk features might spurr some interest. But with Motorola on a steady decline, will anything be enough to regain the companies once legendary image?

The CDM8975 phone has been launched by Verizon Wireless, but the Push to Talk phone is available only via business channels at the moment. The phone will cost $99 with a 2-year contract agreement after $50 rebate which is offered “in the form of a debit card”.

The CDM975 will feture EV-DO Rev.A connectivity, Bluetooth, a 1.3 megapixel camera, up to 8GB microSD support, VZ Navigator and a dedicated Push to Talk button. The phone will be available to the general public starting with March 9. Only a little while to wait now.

Motorola i9 Picture Appear

The iDEN ready BlackBerry 8350i Curve has been released by Spring Nextel today and coincidentally the same day Motorola i9 pictures appeared around the web. The phone should be released soon by Sprint Nextel as this is another iDEN ready phone.

The i9 is a clamshell phone which will feature a 3 megapixel camera with auto focus and flash, ModeShift and GPS and push-to-talk services. Feeling lucky? Will it be released before Christmas? We are yet to find out!

  • The iDEN BlackBerry 8350i will get you that push-to-talk service people are so crazy about. While I prefer the traditional mobile conversations, which by the way I am so good at, I can’t help but notice people and carriers embracing various handsets with push-to-talk support.

The 8350i will also have a 2.0 megapixel camera, GPS, WiFi and with the Group Connect service you will be shouting orders up to 20 people across the continent. Go to Sprint-Nextel to get yours now and look for future RIM designs meant for push-to-talk.

As with the G’zOne Type-S, the G’zOne Boulder push-to-talk phone is also built to meet 810F military standards. That means you can drown it, drop it, freeze it, heat it, and expose it to solar radiation and the G’zOne Boulder will put up a serious fight and come out unscathed. The push-to-talk two-way communication should come pretty easy too with support for Verizon’s EV-DO Rev.A high-speed network and a special application called the Field Force Manager will let businesses monitor and communicate with mobile field workers. The onboard VZ Navigator provides turn-by-turn directions with audio cues and up to 14 million POIs, while the VCAST Music lets the workers have some fun with direct downloads of DRM-free music to the phone via Rhapsody, which can be stored on microSD cards of up to 8GB. A 1.3-megapixel camera is also an option left open to the customers interested.

The G’zOne Boulder is available online in colors of black/orange or silver/orange at just $129.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a two-year agreement on Verizon.

    Sanyo PRO-200 and PRO-700 Phones

Sprint announced two new Nextel Direct Connect devices, the Sanyo Pro-200 and Sanyo Pro-700. These phones will take advantage of Sprint’s PTT (Push-To-Talk) service and also support Sprint Mobile Broadband. Both phones support Qualcomm’s QChat technology and feature call alerts (sending a repeating PTT alert to another subscriber), Group Connect (one-to-many capability, allowing you to communicate with up to 20 other Direct Connect subscribers), missed call notification and DC Permissions. The Sprint Mobile Sync online tool allows you to manage contact information, including setting up groups for PTT and text/voice messaging.

The Sanyo PRO-200 (left) is a slim clamshell and features Bluetooth, messaging and mobile email. Priced at US $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and 2-year service agreement. The PRO-700 is a rugged device complying with military standards for dust/shock/vibration. Priced at $69.99 after rebate and a 2-year service agreement.
