We have seen a lot of mobile phone with unique casings but if you are among the eco-friendly kind, here is one that should appeal to you thanks to the Japanese masterminds. The Touch Wood Phone was revealed over at the DoCoMo website, a phone prototype made up of surplus wood from trees. The phone body is made from cypress wood and obviously adheres to the trend of applying that touch of green everyone is looking for today.

While we’re waiting for Sony Ericsson to come up with some ingenious new phone we’re happy to check out whatever handset they choose to leak. The Bao is a flip phone which Sony Ericsson might launch at some point in the future. The phone hasn’t been officially confirmed yet and by the looks of it we’re looking at a prototype. The phone’s model number is SE 123 which basically means that Sony Ericsson hasn’t decided what to do with it yet. Will we see it in stores soon? Before that happens we should definitely get some specs and pricing details. The pictures aren’t enough to get us all excited about this Bao phone. Right folks?

It seems a user by the name of vofffka got their hands on what they are calling a prototype version of an iPhone 3GS. How do they know it’s a prototype? Well, when they connect it to iTunes it says “iPhone can not be restored, because software for this iPhone is not available yet”.
Not only that but it also has E10633 engraved on the front. Before you go and place a bid, this phone doesn’t work and the eBay user has doubts it will ever work.
However, if you’re a nifty iPhone hacker maybe you can pull a few strings and get yourself a cheap iPhone 3GS?

The phone in the clip here is a concept that won the contest hosted by Hutchinson Whampoa and 3 mobile. The given task was “Create the best phone ever… beyond” and the Project Bluesky Phone appears to be it.
If it will ever be created it will come with fingerprint recognition which activates the biometric profile, 3D interface which automatically arranges your options based on usage and preference, 3D touchscreen with buttons that grow virtually, horizontal keyboard, writing recognition pad on the vertical, 3D screen made with nano fiber optics and probably even more features. The surface goes blank when not in use and the phone will look just like a pebble.
Will anyone create one soon? Highly unlikely!

A 35-year-old man in Sweden snatched a few prototype handsets straight from the Lund offices of Sony Ericsson. That happened on Monday or Tuesday but then he got arrested on Wednesday when the police recovered the phones from his home. The man wasn’t an employee but he was in a working relationship with Sony Ericsson. The total value of the theft was $90,000. So what were those prototypes there? What was he going to do with them anyway? Try to sell them? Develop his own mobile brand?

How will the future touchscreen look like? What about the future paper? HP has an idea about that and more than that, it has a prototype. The e-paper display is said to use less power than the displays available today and, even better, it’s unbreakable. We don’t know when this screen will arrive but we’re sure anxious about using one. HP will surely continue its work with the Arizona State Flexible Display Center to improve the existing prototype.
