All The Latest Cell Phone, Gadget and Tech News

Remember the Powermat charger that we mentioned earlier this year during January? At that time we didn’t know the release date, but today we announce their availability for purchase, with a price tag of $100.

The Powermat is simply a very useful gadget, it lets users charge 3 devices without wires and at the same time from a single power source, which means you just need to place your phone or PMP on top of the mat, and a attach a receiver on each device. Thanks to the built-in termination feature, the charging will automatically stop after it reaches the fully-charged mode. Be it an iPod, iPhone, BlackBerry or a Nintendo gaming console - the Powermat can take care of it.

I was looking forward to see who was going to invent a device that would charge up your mobile phone wirelessly. And it looks like my prayers have been answered. Powermat has shown its new prototype technology at CES 2009.

Others have tried to come up with a wireless charging device but no one really succeeded. So let’s take a look at Powermat. All you have to do is place your cell phone, iPod or batteries on the pad and it will start to charge them. The lights indicate that the devices are currently charging so you will have to patiently wait until they are done. Or sleep through the charging itself. Imagine not needing any more wires to charge your gadgets. Simply have this Powermat technology built into your furniture and go about your business. Could it charge up a laptop battery?

Powermat will start massive production sometime at the end of Q3 but we’ll be there waiting to get more info about these products.
