An employee of Apple’s Clarendon Store got shot on Friday and the shooter is still at large. In case you know anything about it there’s a $1,000 reward for you. All you have to do is to point the cops in the right direction. The Arlington County police have uploaded two videos of the shooter to YouTube. With those millions hits it receives every day, YouTube could be a great tool for the police. Someone must know something:

At approximately 10:15 a.m. on July 3, 2009, an unknown man rang the doorbell at the service entrance to the Apple Store in the 2700 block of Clarendon Boulevard. An employee walked to the back of the store to answer the door. A short time later, another employee heard a gunshot. The victim, a 26 year old female, was found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the right shoulder. The suspect had already fled the area on foot. The victim was transported to an area hospital where she remains in serious but stable condition.

Anyone who has information about this shooting or the identity of the suspect is asked to call the Arlington County Police Department Tip Line at 703 228-4242 or Detective Alan Lowrey at 703 228-4199 or Detective Michael Austin at 703 228-4241. Det. Lowrey can also be reached via email at Alowrey@arlingtonva.us and Det. Austin can be reached at Mausti@arlingtonva.us.

Witnesses can also call Arlington County Crime Solvers at 866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers offers a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest. Callers to Crime Solvers do not have to give their names and do not need to testify in court.

  • I don’t know if it’s the economy or the fact that Apple has some really cool products available but it looks like people are even considering robbing Apple Stores. The Apple Store Clarendon in Arlington, Virginia, was robbed and the perpetrator shot and wounded one of the employees. Nobody died but I am sure some people got scared. The victim was shot in the shoulder and it will survive as the injuries occurred are not life-threatening. The robber hasn’t been caught yet and we can only assume he will try to rob various establishments in the future. Especially since we don’t have any idea of what was stolen. Did he get the money he was looking for? Was he looking for iPhones or Macs?

We have to assume that thieves are not as smart as the movies portray them. Well at least not those that get caught. Had they been smart they could have chosen a better paying career.

The not-so-smart thief stole an iPod and then was apprehended by the police when they found the victim’s playlist still on it. Besides the iPod, some cellphones and $390 in cash have been stolen from three guys in a car in Des Moines, Iowa. I suspect this won’t be a funny story in prison… The moral of the story, don’t listen to stolen iPod’s playlist. Or better yet, stay in school, don’t steal!

  • This is at least weird but it could be quite useful in various situations. If you need to report a crime but calling the police is not an option just yet, then simply send an SMS to the police in London. The perpetrator will not know what you are doing and the police will arrive to the scene of the crime.

So if you’re in London, add this number to your contacts list: 07940 500 500. That’s the Metropolitan Police Service number for answering to crimes reported via SMS.

Ohio Apple Store Out of Stock

An Apple Store in Ohio got robbed early yesterday morning. Robbers entered through a shattered window or door and started to load up Apple products in the trunk of a black Lexus. The police arrived almost on time but they only managed to get their car hit by the robber’s. Probably no one taught those officers to actually follow another car. Or maybe their engine stalled.
