Plantronics Voyager Pro UC headset

Plantronics released a terrific Bluetooth headset a while ago with the Voyager Pro, and they have just released the Voyager Pro UC (”unified communications”) headset.

This headset adds a plug-and-play Bluetooth USB adapter designed for Skype as well as other applications like Avaya, Cisco, IBM, Microsoft, even Google Talk. Sadly, the Bluetooth dongle is incompatible with the first version of the Voyager Pro.

The Voyager Pro UC should be available later this month for a price of about $199.95.

    Voyager PRO

Plantronics Voyager PRO Bluetooth headset has a dual mic system capable of canceling up to 80db of background noise through its three layers of WindSmart technology.  The Voyager PRO’s adaptive 20-band equalizer is designed to present distortion-free audio and works with AudioIQ2 to automatically adjust sound levels based on the noise level around you.

This headset comes with three different sized earpieces wrapped in soft rubber gel. A few foam ear bud covers are furnished as well. The rotating earpiece and swiveling boom mic means the headset can be worn on either ear. The Voyager PRO has a range of 33-feet  and has a 3.5V Li-ion battery that can reach a full charge in 1.5 hours providing up to six hours of talk time and up to five days standby. Retails for around $99.99

Ruggedized notebooks or cell phones is nothing new but Plantronics now brings the moniker to the sissy world of Bluetooth headsets with the Explorer 370. This sturdy headset can talk the talk (yes, pun intended!) with 7 hours of talktime and 8 days on standby and walk its water/dust/shock-resistant walk, being military standard and all. Apart from its tough exterior, there is also “windscreen technology” effectively filtering out noise no matter where you are and QuickPair for smooth pairing with your ruggedized cell phone.

The Explorer 370 will be available starting in March for a suggested price of $79.95 with its less hardy Explorer 360 sibling priced at $69.95.

  • Voyager 855 Bluetooth headset

Plantronics announced a new Bluetooth headset in its Voyager series. The new Plantronics Voyager 855 is a unique mono-to-stereo convertible Bluetooth headset featuring AudioIQ DSP, a noise reduction technology. The Voyager 855 is targeted at Bluetooth mobile phones and offers a convertible design thanks to its detachable stereo cable. This lets you use the voyager either for entertainment in stereo mode or communication in mono mode.

The Voyager 855 also comes with form-fitting earbuds for comfortable, all-day wearing. With its sound-isolating earbuds, you can concentrate on your calls or music without worrying about ambient noise disrupting your experience. Furthermore, in stereo mode, the headset’s AVRCP (remote control) Bluetooth profile gets enabled as well, letting you control your audio playback.

Switching between calls and music is easy with Plantronics’ stereo multipoint technology. AudioIQ is the company’s proprietary adaptive DSP technology that automatically adjusts audio levels to increase clarity.

Priced at US $149.95, the Plantronics Voyager 855 will be available in October 2007.
