Here is a different kind of way to promote a cause. Cancer is certainly one of the most dreaded diseases we can ever come in contact with and to help promote the efforts of Pioneers for a cure, what better way to do it other than through songs from people who care in the music industry?

That is the intent of this new app for the iPhone, “Songs to Fight Cancer”. This app promises to deliver revived pioneer tunes for a fund raising initiative where each downloaded song is a point scored for cancer related care, treatment and research.

Embedded within the current 1.1 version of the iPhone App is a collective sing-a-long of 40 participating musicians mixed by the legendary Bob Clearmountain. From within the App itself, users can learn about the project, listen to streaming music previews, share information with others and connect to the Pioneers For a Cure website to make donations.

In addition to the recent GPS systems that Pioneer revealed, there is another one codenamed AVIC-MRZ088. As it happens with the 4 others, it will be included on the carrozeria series. So far there isn’t exact information about the price, but the features seem pretty good.

The AVIC-MRZ088 boasts a “big” 5.8-inch touchscreen, and instead of a normal hard-drive it comes with flash memory which in this case has 8GB. The head unit features a 2-DIN system, and on the front there is slot for SD memory cards.

Since it will be a Japanese release, Pioneer decided to put a 1Seg TV Tuner so people can watch TV easily.

  • All the way from Japan comes a new set of GPS drives made by Pioneer, with the following codenames: HRZ099, HRZ088, HRV022, and HRV011. The four new GPS systems are pretty similar, all of them have a drive that can read DVDs, CDs, MP3s, AAC, and also DivX files.

The difference between each model can be seen in the small details, for example, the HRZ009 and HRZ008 are perfect for the music people, because they come with a built-in amplifier that provides good sound power - 50W x 4. If you like to watch movies, the HRZ009 is also a good choice thanks to the big resolution of 800×480, while all the other models have a smaller 480×234.
