Sony Ericsson has unveiled a new version of their popular W910i walkman phone - the SE W910i MOBO Edition. This announcement came a month before the 2008 MOBO Awards that will be held at the Wembley Arena in London. The specifications of the new phone, however, hasn’t been fully released to the public. But do know that the W910i MOBO should be on sale later this year, only across the UK and only via Carphone Warehouse.
As it is another version of the W910i walkman phone, then most probably the phone will come with pre-installed MOBO content. Also, primary staples of the original phone will probably be still there like its design, measurement and certain features. Features like a Walkman Player (version 3.0), TrackID, motion sensor, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, FM radio with RDS, quad-band GSM connectivity with GPRS and EDGE, HSDPA 2100 MHz connectivity, a 2.4 inch TFT display with 256K colors and a QVGA resolution, NetFront browser, email and IM, JAVA MIDP 2.0, a 2 MP camera with video recording, 40MB of internal memory and support for Memory Stick Micro cards would probably be in this new phone.
The handset price is still unknown but most probably, the the special phone will cost more than its original version (which is available across Europe for retail prices under 300 Euros).
Thanks Trevor

A new Samsung handset has just been approved by the Federal Communications Commision. It is going to be called the Samsung SGH-J808E. As of the moment, details for this is still very vague. I guess we all need to just wait for Samsung to provide us with more specs and details.
At this time, we only know that the phone will support Cellular/PCS GSM/EDGE and will come in with Bluetooth support.

Remember that low-res video clip we got you back in May about a mysterious Sony Ericsson device with PSP-like icons? Well, Se-nse was able to get their hands on a better-looking video and this ain’t the PSP phone that we have been speculating about for some time. What we can glean from the picture is that this mysterious device has a two-way mechanism like the N95; sliding down will give users access to multimedia controls and sliding up makes way for the camera. There also seems to be a third slide-out function hiding a QWERTY keypad underneath. Pretty cool design if you ask me, but we will still take this with a generous pinch of salt until Sony Ericsson decides to come out in the open about its choice between the evasive PSP phone and this touchscreen monster. Head here if you care to watch the original video.

So you’re not looking for a cell phone are you? What about a regular, old fashioned phone for your home? What about a modern regular phone? The Iocell Contents Phone is exactly that. But besides regular phone calls it knows some neat tricks.
Inside the Iocell Phone there’s a hard drive which will store music, record conversations and play music in the background of your calls. Everything can be taken to your PC and stored over there if needed. Bad news for the stalker that was calling you all the time. Now you’ll be able to record him while making him listen to the Titanic soundtrack.

A Zune phone was rumored for a long time in the mobile world with Windows always having to deny such a device. But something strange happened. Steve Ballmer, whom you might know from his eggs ducking experiences and whose hobby is pretending to a qualified Microsoft CEO, is getting ready for a new fiscal year. And he wants it to be a more like Apple year.

Last time I heard the word cryptex was in a new movie with Tom Hanks. There was a strange story about God, Jesus, and his lineage. At some point a cryptex was involved. Well this Cryptex Phone is a cool concept with a very smart design. In order to make a call you need to twist and turn each circle. There’s haptic feedback involved when making a call and vibration alert when receiving calls.
No news on availability or pricing yet. This Cryptex phone was designed by March Schomann so maybe he would know if this prototype will be available any day soon.

Samsung has released two new eco-friendly phones during the World IT Show in Korea, the W510 and the F268. The SCH-W510 is called the Bio Cover Phone as it uses bioplastic material made from cornstarch and is manufactured using an environmentally-friendly metal finishing process while the SGH-F268 has no brominated flame retardants (BFRs) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) that can be harmful to people and will be offered with eco-friendly accessories such as a headset and a charger.
Unlike most of the phones on the market, the W510 does not contain elements like Mercury, Lead or Cadmium. The features of W510 were not unveiled yet, but we can see a photo camera with flash, a pretty wide display and mobile TV capabilities, hence it’s most probably a mid-end device.
Samsung F268 comes with a special alarm that allows users to know exactly when the battery of the phone is fully charged and can be plugged out. In terms of features, the new F268 is a tri-band GSM handset with a 2.1 inch TFT display (262K colors and 240 x 320 pixels), a 2 Megapixel camera with video, Media player (supporting MP3, AAC, WMA, MPEG4 and 3GP), FM radio, Bluetooth 2.0, WAP browser, USB and microSD card support.
The W510 is expected to be available in the end of this month and the F268 will see a launch in China this month - no word on a UK launch just yet.
