I’m not sure the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 is the best choice for anyone right now especially since the Tour is coming soon. Verizon Wireless is nevertheless selling the phone as of right now and it can be yours for $79 after a $70 mail-in rebate and a new two-year contract. The phone is available both online and in store and if you’re not looking for an iPhone or a Pre right now then a Flip phone from Berry might be the phone for you.

Having been initially announced some time ago the Blackberry Pearl Flip 8220 successful made an appearance on carriers such as T-Mobile and Rogers but other carriers were effectively left in the dark.

Luckily, Verizon Wireless has released a statement saying that the Blackberry Pearl Flip 8230 will be available from them on June 19th for $129.99 after a 2-year contract and $70 rebate. If you aren’t familiar with the Pearl Flip it is essentially a Blackberry Pearl in a flip form factor with RIM marketing the phone to prevent “making calls with your butt”.

Anyways, the 8230 will be running RIM’s 4.6.0 operating system on a 324MHz processor, external and internal displays, 2MP camera complete with flash, GPS, and a SureType keypad. As for me? I’ll settle with a Blackberry Bold.

Now here’s an idea: T-Mobile UK has recently announced the addition of a “Pay Once” option for those interested in buying the Blackberry Pearl 8110.

If you choose this deal, you’ll pay a one time fee of £180/$262 and get a brand new Blackberry Pearl 8110 complete with unlimited internet and email for a year. Sounds cool, right?

The only problem is that there aren’t any minutes bundled with the “Pay Once” deal so you’re forced to deal with a pay-as-you-go method of obtaining minutes. Oh well, can’t win ‘em all!

AT&T is finally going to launch the BlackBerry Curve 8900 which T-Mobile already has in stock. The 8900 will arrive sometime in February although we don’t know exactly when. The Pearl Flip 8210 will also arrive from AT&T and you should expect it sometime in March. There’s no official date for it either and as for pricing, we expect the Curve 8900 to sell for $199 on contract while the Flip will probably cost $99. All we need now is confirmation from AT&T.

We have no news on pricing and availability dates yet but we’re counting on Verizon to let everyone know soon about their intentions with the 8230. And as for data plans, Fido will charge you $15 for unlimited personal email and IM, $25 for 500MB/month, $30 for 1GB/month and $60 for 3GB of traffic per month.

Blackberry Pearl Flip Nearing its Launch

It seems as if the much anticipated launch of the Blackberry Pearl Flip is close at hand. Articles, rumors, unboxing videos and photos of the smartphone have started appearing on the Web, including those from the Boy Genius Report and PhoneDog.com, complete with T-Mobile packaging. Of course, the rumor that T-Mobile is going to launch the smartphone has been around for a while, its easy to assume that the launch will be sooner rather than later.

The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 was announced at CTIA Fall 2008 and is the first BlackBerry with a clamshell design. T-Mobile will be the first U.S. carrier to offer the model.

BlackBerry handsets are especially designed for the professional class. AT&T Inc. recently released the BlackBerry Pearl 8110 smartphone with built-in GPS. The cell phone comes with an integrated AT&T Navigator that offers on-screen directions with colorful 3-D moving maps. The Navigator makes the users aware of traffic speeds and incidents via voice commands and on screen prompts.

“The BlackBerry Pearl 8110’s stylish design and consumer features blend well with the productivity features for managing your day while away from home or the office,” said Michael Woodward, vice president, Business Voice/Data and Wireless Products, for AT&T’s wireless unit.

The New BusinessTalk Plans and BlackBerry Professional Software make it a versatile solution for the high end commercial class. The display of this Smartphone support more than 65,000 colors and comes with the capacity to automatically adjust brightness as per surrounding environment. The BlackBerry Pearl 8110 is the first BlackBerry cellphone to provide free wireless download of YELLOWPAGES.COM Mobile application.

AT&T’s BlackBerry Pearl 8110 smartphone is available for immediate sale at a price of $149.99, with a two-year contract, unlimited data plan and $39.99 voice plan. There are other plans available if you are a globe trotter. Surf up the AT&T’s official website for more details. It is available in two color options glossy titanium or rich red finish.

amosu_pearl_diamond.jpg
Here in Mobilewhack, we’ve never ran out of luxury story phones to tell. This time, it’s the BlackBerry Pearl which is, yet again, pimped. This BlackBerry Pearl Diamond Edition by Amosu is encrusted with 900 diamonds. 900 diamonds! And what’s great is that, these 900 diamonds are recyclable — you can use them for another purpose later if the BlackBerry Pearl starts becoming old. Better yet, all Amosu’s handsets come with concierge service. The Amosu Blackberry Pearl Diamond is available in the Amosu web site for US$88,443. Personally, I’d rather see a BlackBerry Pearl covered in, well, pearl — just for the pun of it (yes, pun intended).

Well, I think love is really in the air. At least love for pink that is. After conquering Verizon in the United States, the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 in its all its pinkish glory is headed up north towards Canada via Telus. But this time, there is also a humanitarian side to this fashionable smartphone as Telus will donate $25 to Rethink Breast Cancer on every piece sold. Get it before the big day on a three-year contract for $99.99 from Telus. I won’t bore you with the specs again, but head over here if you are still interested.

descMobiTV announced that its mobile TV application is now available for the BlackBerr Pearl 8130 smartphone. With the broadest collection of live TV and other video/music content for mobile users, this is good news for Pearl users who were missing out the feature. BlackBerry 8130 users can purchase MobiTV through either their wireless provider or through www.mobitv.com. It is also available on Handango. The TV application is on display at the CES 2008 in booth 30333 South Hall 3.

  • OtterBox 1934 and 1935

Otter Products announced two new models in the Defender line-up of protective cases. The OtterBox 1934, designed for BlackBerry Pearl and the OtterBox 1935 for BlackBerry Curve allow full access to the trackball and camera, and fit the RIM phones neatly. Rugged in nature, you can easily carry the case on your travels. With three protective layers, your BlackBerry is safe from scratches, bumps and even drops.

According to Otter, layer 1 is a protective clear membrane for the screen and keyboard, preventing dust and dirt from getting into your phone, while layer 2 is essentially a high-impact polycarbonate shell. The third layer wraps the silicone skin over the device to absorb bump and shock. The OtterBox 1934 and 1935 also come with acoustic vents that cover and protect the microphone, headset and speaker phone openings.

For easy carrying, there’s also a swivel belt clip. Priced at US $49.95, the OtterBox cases are now available.
