Orange UK has just announced their intentions to carry Apple’s fabled iPhone 3G and 3GS at some point later this year. It seems that O2’s iPhone exclusivity deal has reached its end and marks the second carrier in the UK to officially carry the handset.

From this announcement you can expect to see a price war of sorts as Orange UK and O2 battle it out to see who can give consumers the most wallet-friendly iPhone experience.

Yesterday we let you know that the Motorola CLIQ would be coming to the UK sometime in 2010 as the Motorola DEXT. However, today we have some contrasting news as recent reports suggest that the Motorola DEXT will in fact be hitting Orange UK sometime early next month.

Furthermore, pre-orders are supposedly going to start sometime around September 22nd so if you’re on Orange UK and want to get yourself an Android handset you should probably wait off until then.

T-Mobile USA has clearly announced that it has no plans to launch the HTC Hero in the USA. That doesn’t mean that T-Mobile UK will not bring HTC’s latest Android phone in the UK. In fact the UK carrier will launch the HTC Hero and it’s going to call it the G2 Touch. It’s not exactly clear what Hero will actually be available in the UK so we’re counting on T-Mobile UK to tell us more soon. Is it the keyboard version?

What we do know is that the G2 Touch will be available for free with a new 18-month contract as long as you’re willing to commit to a plan of at least $60 per month. What Hero will you choose? The one offered by T-Mobile UK or the one coming from Orange UK?

Tomorrow, July 10, that famous TG01 smartphone from Toshiba will be available in the UK. The exclusive carrier is Orange UK and the phone will be available for free with a 2-year contract as long as you’re ready to get at least a £39.15 per month plan. The plan comes with 1200 any network voice minutes, unlimited SMS messages, anytime internet browsing and Orange Maps preloaded on the phone. And as a bonus to all that, an 8GB microSD card is included in the package.

Francois Mathieu, Director of Devices, Orange UK said:

We’re really pleased to have teamed up with Toshiba to bring the TG01 exclusively to the UK. We believe the TG01 is a prime example of manufacturer innovation, and is a device that is at the very top of its game which will allow users to make the most from their mobile experience.

Since it likes the TG01 so much can we expect Orange to bring the TG01 in other markets too? We’ll definitely keep you posted!

It seems that the highly sought after Toshiba TG01 has finally made its way onto a carrier, unfortunately only in the UK.

This doesn’t mean UK cellphone users will be able to get their hands on the phone right away as Orange’s website states the handset is coming soon. And for those who don’t know, the TG01 is just 9.9mm thick, has a 3.1MP camera, 4.1″ touschscreen, YouTube and Windows Mobile 6.1.

Just when will the TG01 be available? Well, come July 9th, we’ll probably have a more solid answer.

Apparently, Orange UK has temporarily stopped selling Research in Motion’s much anticipated Blackberry Bold. The cause? Unspecified 3-G related problems on the handset. This happened last Friday, but will hopefully resume sales when a software fix becomes available.

A statement from Orange stated that: “Orange UK is committed to providing the BlackBerry Bold to its customers in the U.K.; however, Orange UK and (BlackBerry manufacturer) RIM are currently working on providing a maintenance release of software to address some reported 3G-related concerns.”

The said 3G problem has been limited to UK Orange customers only so its possible that this is an isolated incident. Its also comforting to know that Orange UK and RIM are taking customer’s concern seriously and felt that they need to address this issue first before selling more handsets. Even more surprising is that Orange UK and RIM apologized to customers for any inconvenience and they expect to provide a software maintenance release soon. This is surprisingly a better response to, say Apple, with its iPhone 3G issues.

Barely a month after we first caught word of its 8-megapixel monster, Samsung has put the i8510/Innov8 out on the streets. They had let it out that this S60-powered handset will be available in UK “early September,” but we didn’t actually think it would be this early. Orange UK is the first carrier to boast the availability of this tech titan and it has thrown in a Nokia 1650 on a Pay As You Go plan along with the Innov8. We have mulled over its features many times already but if you care to know, the Samsung i8510 has the 8-megapixel camera as promised with a bevy of camera-oriented features, dual-band 7.2Mbps HSDPA, quad-band EDGE, aGPS, 16GB of internal memory, Bluetooth, and FM radio, all working on top of some sweet Symbian S60 FP2 love. Available now for free on a £40 per month agreement for 18 months including the Nokia 1650 prepaid cell phone, which is also free.
